Default Found that throttle only opened 90% on two LSX intakes

I installed two lsx's in the last weeks and one gained around 15 rwhp and the other approx 19 rwhp (heads/cam cars).

Today we looked at both cars at the track and found that the throttle was only opening 90% because they were hitting, but you couldnt really tell unless you looked for it.

So time to redyno and hope for some hp improvements...

Please do keep us posted......I am anxious to know if it will make a diff. I predict 5 hp. Just guessing however I hope you get more.

Lemme guess..the throttle cable was hitting the return hose on the TB.

I would expect you to pick up another 4-5rwhp once you get the TP to 100%.

LOL, If you read my result's I went through the same thing.Luckuly we found it out on the dyno. You need to cut the throttle Cam with these intakes.Took all of 20 seconds with a cut off wheel.

Youd be surprised that on alot of cars that doesnt gain much power. Its like its only a restriction after a certain rpm (when it needs more air - I think that supports the intake is a reservoir theory) with more and more gains as rpm increase.

On bolton cars Ive seen going from 86% to 100% opening gain onyl 4 hp... AFTER 5500 rpm. Not that id want my TB only open 86 though%

id liek to see what hte before/after power is and the graph, my guess is 13-17 hp with gains starting at/after peak torque.

I looked for "your results" SlowHawk & cannot find where you say exactly what you did. Not even on your website. As stated before, pics would be great!

Thanks! So what hits what? The back edge of the throttle cable cam hits the coolant tube? The PVC tube? Looking at my LSX off the car I am trying to imagine, but without the TB installed it's kinda tough....

I looked a little bit closer today....actually took some measurements. And by golly if you guys aren't right. The fitting for the PCV tube is about 1/2' higher & just about that much farther forward than where it comes out on the stock manifold. Amazing nobody else has said anything. I asked Thunder Racing....they are looking into it. Could explain why some cars have produced such dismal results.....

Thanks for posting this guys. I never would have thought about it!

The only way I found it was on my first pull we gained nothing.I was alittle ticked off. Then we went over everything and found out we didn't get 100% throttle.
