Default 2000 Trans-Am M6 dyno results

My car went to New Era Performance for a cam swap on monday and picked it up today. The car was dyno'd with just bolt ons before the cam swap. Mods were: Edelbrock Stepped LT's, ORY, Hooker catback, SLP lid + underdrive pulley, Ported TB, Fernco mod, LS6 intake, TR55 plugs, PCMforless tune, cutout, K&N filter, TB coolant bypass, 7.400" Manley pushrods, Comp 918 springs, Moser 9" rear(spool), MT DR's on 17" Z06 motorsports.

Bolt on results w/cutout closed: 353.67rwhp/354.07rwtq(SAE)

After this was done they did a cam swap, oil pump, double roller timing set, spring upgrade for me. I chose a custom cam from BRE(Bret Bauer). Specs won't be given but its a small cam, around the size of F13, G5X2, TSP torquer, etc. My concern was good driveability, torquey, fun cam that could be daily driven if need be, oh and around 400rwhp. Oil pump was LS6 unit. Springs were upgraded to PAC springs 1518, which is similar to the Comp 918's(beehive spring, but its nitrided and some other stuff....same seat/open pressure, coil bind, but good to .650 lift.) Also injectors were swapped out to factory 28lbers, since duty cycle was high with the 26's. Spark plug wires were also swapped to MSD's since some of my wires ripped when taking them off. Tuning was also done by Mike@ New Era.

Cam-Only results w/ cutout closed: 419.27rwhp/386.28rwtq(SAE)
....................... w/ cutout open: 421.15rwhp/389.18rwtq (SAE)

Picked the car up today and the cam drives like stock, with a whole lot more power. Drive home was 3+ hours and was very pleasant. I am very happy with this cam, Bret really came through with an awesome cam for me. Also it was a pleasure to work with New Era performance, communication was super with them, even being 200+ miles away. They went out of there way to take care of me and to make me happy, customer service is great. Mike Tuned this car flawlessly, and it literally drives like stock w/ just a hint of cam surge in 6th gear at around 1200rpm's...but very livable. I will be a return customer there. Big Thanks to Bret, and all the guys at New Era for a job well done. I should be hitting the track soon to get some baseline numbers before I start doing suspension work.

Look at post #16 for a quick sound clip. This is with the cutout closed through the hooker catback.

Awesome numbers. Sounds like Bret gave you exactly what you wanted.

Nice upgrade with the valve springs . I think word is finally getting out there about the PAC-1518. It really is the best beehive on the market right now.

Thanks to both of you.

Yes, the 1518 appears to be an awesome valvespring. I am not sure I can narrow it down to just them, but with the 7.400" pushrods, shimmed 1518's, and this cam the valvetrain is super quiet. It was much louder before with the 918's/and 7.400" pushrods but I associate that with the pushrod length being a bit inaccurate. I see alot of people complain about valvetrain noise after the cam, but I'm happy to see this isn't the case here.

BTW for those of you wondering, the heads are stock 241 castings.

Sounds like a winner !! Are you going to put some heads on that sucker next year ?? Should push your power way up with a good set of Milled AFR 205's. Throw on a Meziere EWP for a couple more ponies and better gas mileage. Plus the EWP looks cool too. Great results. Looking forward to seeing the graph.

Thanks! Yep, my plans are for a set of heads(thinking AFR's/TFS) whatever it is, they will be milled and I will be using thinner head gaskets. Electric water pump, Ported FAST 90/NW TB are also in the plans. I was thinking about going with 3" true duals as well but I like that the car is quiet now, and it appears the Hooker catback must flow pretty well for the cutout to only gain me 2hp/3ft lbs of torque.

As for the graph, I am having problems with my computer, can someone resize it and post a link for me if I email it to them?

Thanks. I went to the local 1/8 mile track for a couple baseline runs. It didn't really impress me all that much, but I still picked up some time and MPH from when I ran bolt ons. Weather wasn't great and it was hot. I ran a few 8.2's@91 mph. DA was around 2500+ all day with a headwind. Now I suppose I will have to start working on suspension, and start cutting better then 2.0 60fts. The rear is a Moser 9", installed it myself....bought through a sponser on here...>EPP.

Update:
Well racing season has been over for me for alittle while since have been plagued with transmission and clutch issues. I did make it to the local 1/8 mile track 3 times for a total of about 12 passes. I'm am still trying to practice launching the car, but so far I have a best of 7.71@91 mph w/1.74 60ft. There is alot more in the car once the transmission woes are resolved, and perhaps some weight reduction...as of right now the car is full weight~ minus rear seats/spare tire + my 300lbs.
