If you can afford it, go with with boost, procharger or turbo. Ive had 3 different H/C setups making 430rwhp, 455rwhp & 465rwhp. A TT 6 speed setup making 531/590 on 12psi and making on 18psi and a TT 4L80E setup making 600/603 on 15psi AND a P1SC on my last Ws6 with a measly 6psi....I'll tell you Boost is more fun (and maintance i might add).

H/C is fun for awhile but then you want more. As long as your motor & fuel system is built for the power, a turn of the **** or a pulley swap and your making crazy power.

Someone school me on what makes a forged engine to make it safe for boost?
I see what you mean 30th TA, I dont wanna go H/C/I and not be satisfied and then end up spending more money going with boost down the road. What did your car put down on 6 PSI?

If you want to go procharger or turbo AND your runing the stock bottom end, your limited to how much boost you can get away with. Most people will say 8psi is the highest boost you can run on a stock bottom end and get away with it. However some guys run 10psi, 12psi & higher and still get away with it. Hell some guys blow there motors on 7psi. But as long as you have the fuel and a good tuner, you should be able to run 8 psi with no problems. 8 psi on a bone stock LS1 is roughly 450rwhp. Add a full exhaust and you'll see 475-480rwhp.

Add forged pistons, rods & ARP bolts in the stock LS1 block and you'll be ready for 800rwhp

I never dyno'd the car when it was making 6 psi but on a stock LS1 6 speed, 6 psi would be around 425rwhp.

i wish i would have got a used procharger kit from the start , so much more fun and alot more room to grow then your basic head and cam setup, its alot more fun then spray because its always there and never runs out, go with a pro charger with a blower cam you will be very happy you did.

That would easily eclipse 500Rw.

Blah.. More TQ, no belt issues, instant power (resembles N/A).

All depends on how you look at it.

If I was to build a fun DD street car with a nice bit of power from scratch.

Used P1sc kit with everything needed (injectors/etc)
EPS blower cam (for the sound and extra bit of power)
supporting valve train
TSP LTs with whatever exhaust one prefers (free flowing yet fairly quiet with no drone)
m6 would keep stock gears, auto would get a small 3200 or so converter
stock 317 heads (they are dirt cheap and nice mod for FI)
stock ls6 intake/ported TB (goes a long way in the FI world)
lid
tune

And I would leave the bitch that way and forget it. 550Rwhp capable safely on 93 pump gas and low maintenance for the most part.

Its all about money!! I I could aford FI, I would do it in a heart beat, but I would still prefer a nasty 700hp N/A engine

Ya Lemons I like your thinking. Id leave the stock 241s though. We were also talking about the Kooks merge in another thread and I totally forgot Im gonna be going with their TD setup. Sucks I bought 1 3/4 LTs though earlier this year. I know regret it..

Kooks merge blows. Either a true dual setup or a nice merge.

im in the same boat man...i had h/c on my other car and like everyone said at first i was excited about it but eventually i wanted more. I didnt drive the car everyday so actually when i did drive it it felt fast as hell (my daily is an 86 olds with a 4 cylinder lol) but there were times when i was a lil dissapointed with it. I am currently thinking about going with a procharger but the price of FI adds up real quick and like everyone else stated there is extra maintenance involved while with a h/c setup you can just pretty much do regular maintenance and still have a quick car.

Ya im thinking while a Procharger isnt only more money that H/C/I I feel like along with the $7,000 SC comes a beefier Transmission and we know that 10 bolt isnt gonna last. I dunno its a tough choice..

The guys at AI were quick to email me back. Seems like a FAST isnt worth the extra $$ for the small gain on even a H/C setup..
