Sorry that I'm just getting to chime in here on this one. I went to bed early last night!! Ok, I'll try and answer a little bit of everything here.
1. On the 474rwhp run the belt was off the car.
2. Along with changing the cams, I also added a ported TB, electric WP, new patriot gold dual springs, and had a few "touch ups" done to the heads. By that I mean a new valve job since the heads had so many miles on them.
3. The idle and driveablity of this cam is better than the TSP cam, BUT it does have more aggressive ramps.
4. In my opinion, with the new mods, there is very little power difference between the TSP and FMS cams. The FMS may make a touch more midrange. I wish I wouldn't have sold the 231/237 yet, so I could have stuck it in and done a better comparison.
5. The reason I don't take my car to the track is because I don't want to put a 12 bolt in it right now. And this is the car I drive to work every day. I have taken it once last year and it ran a 11.98 @ 123 on a 2.2 60ft time. With street tires and 3.42 gears.
6. The Full cam specs are 230/232 .591/.585 112+2 which is a FM13

In conclusion, my final goal is a "homemade" 500rwhp car. To get there I feel like I am going to have to upgrade injectors, buy an LSx intake and stick one of the Texas Speed Magic cams in there. I'll be getting injectors next week, a new cam in two weeks and we'll see where it is at on the stock intake.

No, the old 451 was with a stock wp, crappily ported TB and full belts, not even a short belt. I think the 231/237 would be right there with this with the newer mods.

Did you dyno with the belt on also and if so what kind of gain did you notice with it off. I woudl imagine it couldnt be that much with the EWP.

Thanks

I was at a dyno day and only got 3 pulls, the first one was with the belt on and it was 459rwhp and 417rwtq... but that was the first time the car had been taken to WOT since I had gotten it all put together earlier that morning, heck the springs hadn't even been heat cycled.. I started it up, checked for leaks and drove down there. Each pull was getting higher.. wish I would have had two or three more pulls. It has about 150 miles on it total now and is feeling stronger. I may dyno it again next weekend before I start changing stuff again.

btw, removing the belt is worth 10rwhp in my opinion. I think the car would have done 465rwhp with the belt on it if I would have had more pulls.

I cant wait to see what the majic stick does for your setup...that with the lsx intake should be able to put you right at the majic 500

Congrats on your progress! I would be interested to see what difference bigger injectors would make on your current setup. I think that would be useful info. You will get to 500, keep up the good work.

Good luck!

i can't wait to see what it will do with new injectors, and then with one of those "majic" bump sticks.

I've had a load of people PMing me asking me if these are the "race port" heads. They are not, they are an off the shelf CNC'd Stage II LS6 STYLE head. All the tool marks are in the head, no hand finishing on them. When I pull the heads to flycut I'll send them for the "race port" upgrade... if the cost isn't too much

Mine are being done now. This and the "Texas Giant" should net some nice numbers.

I ended up buying a 12 bolt and having a cage put in the car right after that. I sold those heads to a local guy and the cam to Jlaw from off the board here. I stuck the 12 bolt in the car with a set of PRC 2.5's and a FMS F15 cam, it dyno'd 447/411 thru the 12 bolt and ran 11.1x at 123 with a LS6 intake. I ran that setup at last years Thunder Shootout and then pretty much parked the car until a few weeks ago. I devoted all my free time into starting a small business and didn't have as much time to play with the car. I sold the 12 bolt a few weeks ago and stuck the 10 bolt back in there until I finish the 9 inch I have for the car. I dyno'd the car yesterday with a FAST 90 setup, ported #241 heads, and the F15 cam (results are in this section). Future plans, since I have made some time for it, include doing a couple of head and cam swaps on the car in the next two weeks and then installing a 408 in the car during the Christmas holidays. That's the "Reader's Digest" version of it.

Hey Gomer, what kind of business are you starting? Reason I ask is I'm starting one myself.
