congrats to the OP!

i haven't been on in awhile but the last thread i cam across with the valves being turned down was "brian tooley's" build. can someone explain the perks in this? i'm assuming a lil torque benefit but what's the main pro vs. con?

Standard stainless Ferrea intake valves like is used in the TFS heads weigh about 108-115 grams depending on diameter. The standard hollow stem LS3 valve weighs 89 grams and when turned down to 2.10" weighed 87 grams. They would weigh even less when turned down more. That's close to what titanium valves weigh.

The light weight allows for more aggressive lobe profiles with greater lift, yet maintain control of the valve train at higher rpms.

Bumping this thread after following a link to this from another.

Any updates at all? How'd she do at the track?

This definitely piques my interest in a stage 2 with turned down LS3's. Light weight benefit of LS6 valves, just a bigger size.

Nice!

Can we get some pics and measurements on that GM table that you set the cradle on to pull the engine from the bottom?

That is a VW and AUDI engine and Trans table used to pull the engines on there cars but it works for f body's and all cars. It's a 7k table and I work for VW so I get to use all the cool tools. I have a huge tool box full of all the goodies. I had this setup out in 2 hours taking my time putting the front end back on to put it in are other building where I now wrench. But I will take pics

I thought I'd bump this up since my build will be very close to this.

How's it doing a year later?
