I find that hard to believe when it's SAE certified at 650 at the flywheel!

This is an automatic car. The manual ones are making around 510 rwhp. This is pretty much in line with the CTS-V with the same engine in them.

Numbers are not bad. I find it interesting that the Zl1 supercharger whine is way louder than the Zr1.

With just a pulley, tune, and converter these cars will be way ahead of a 13 gt500 at the track. I watched several new 500s run on Saturday at Tulsa Raceway Park and I honestly wasnt impressed. The best pass I witnessed was 12.6 at 118. Nowhere near the magazine's times. Everyone keeps complaining about the z but theres definatley an advantage to the automatic when it comes to modding. I realize there are shops that can get 9 second passes out of them but the average driver sure can't.

Time to add some "Juice" to the mix.

Either Meth/H2O or N2O.

For the factory rating of 580hp flywheel 484rwhp seems right in line for a A6. I just wish GM had given the LSA motor all forged internals. I think that would have made the CTS-V and ZL1 Camaro have even more potential since you could push 20PSI+ at it with a good tune. I hope they learn from this in their future supercharged motors.

I think it would have been better if GM brought out a new engine for the ZL1...Being the same as the CTSV is kind of a turn-off...

If I had the cash to buy a ZL1 and then mod it? I would have got the ZR1 instead.

That vette would put a nice little whooping on the ZL1

My point is that the Z has an advantage over the GT500 since you can install a torque converter. The GT500s were having a hard time at the track last week. When you pulley and tune them, they will be even harder to modulate during take off. Yes I realize you can pulley and tune a GT500 as well. I just dont think an auto ZL1 is at as much of a disadvantage against the 500 as most on here on the track.

that mustang that made 609 rwhp is the only stang i've seen that has made that power...i'm seeing a lot of them getting baselined around 570-580 which is still extremely impressive. the ZL1 is a pretty nice car and is putting down real impressive times at the track for a stock car. i do agree with most, the next camaro that comes out will be a lot lighter and might make for a "better" car for the performance. however, the camaros are selling like crazy so at least GM did something right for this car.
