Default ls6 build

is it possible to make 500 fwhp out of a ls6 ? the build will consist of a ls6 cam , p&p tb , either tsp ported heads or my head porter doing a set of either 243 or 799 heads , really want a new fast 92 intake , long tube headers. will be going into a 98 z with an a4.

500 flywheel is easily doable. Not with the ls6 cam though. 450 with ls6 cam yes.

Agreed with both replies, You Are on the right track as far as heads/Intake etc, but also need a bigger cam to go N/A for those numbers. U have a LS6 correct? the heads (243's) should do u well w/ just a decent cam install and some other bolt-ons, Pulley, injectors etc..for 500 at the crank

no i don't have an ls6 guess the only thing that would be ls6 would be the cam. just a 98 ls1. my head porter builds comp elmin. motors so i'm pretty sure he has a few tricks up his sleeve. my car is 95% street.

My LS6 makes 385rwhp, guessing thats about 425 at the flywheel. Lots of guys make 400rwhp with the LS6 with all the little tricks. That puts them about 440 at the flywheel.

Send the heads to Advanced Induction, use all the "tricks" underdrive pulley, free mods, electric water pump, get the compression up to 11 to 1.

Look into using the 405 horse LS6 cam with 1.8 rockers.

I could see 430 rwhp with a max effort LS6 if you did it all right.

GMHTP made 450 at the flywheel with a stock LS6 crate engine with only a set of headers and a ported throttlebody.
Ai ported heads and the FAST intake should get you there.

That is the cam I'm going to use and thought about the bigger ratio on the rockers.
That is the artical that got me wondering about the 500hp idea.
Well be doing a 92/92 combo (Fast intake -NW tb).

Read the sig. Yes you can make 500fwhp with a ls6. The dynojet #'s would be 431whp and 408 wtq. That equates to a little over 500 at the crank. My qtr times seems to back it up.

This.....Mine is max effort bolt-on engine. With 1.8 rockers. The rockers was worth 5@ peak on hp/tq and 10 under the curve.
