Default Looking to do a 500RWHP N/A build

I am kinda new to all of this, I have a 2000 Trans Am WS6. Im looking to get 500RWHP. I currently have TSP 1 7/8 Longtubes, 3" TSP OR-Y, Corsa Catback, and an SLP air intake. I currently put down 336RWHP and 340RWTQ on the dyno. I want to do a badass build, im thinking MS4 cam, Yank4000 converter, and maybe trick flow heads and a fast 102 intake. what do you guys think? The car will also be needing a rebuild soon and i think im going with forged internals.

Not unless you up your cubes or switch to a standard transmission(M6). With the upgrades you posted, you'll be lucky to get over 410rwhp. Look at my sig. I've got a 402 stroker right at 500rwhp. Autos are not ment to put up big numbers. If your in need of a rebuild, go with more cubes...........

Its doable but its not easy by any means. Larger cubes and a tight stall converter large *** cam and aftermarket casting heads. Chris 1313 did it with an auto and 346 cubes. https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...4-10-11-a.html

Wont happen if youre kinda ''new to this''. Not beeing rough, just that there is many plp asking this. Its a magical number that everybody wants. That beeing said;

First, I'd look into a new exhaust setup. Something better like ARH/Kooks/SW and/or at least a true dual. Cant cut corners to get 500rwhp.

AFR/PRC/TFS ported heads/ported FAST 102/102mm TB/custom huge cam/agressive tune all the boltons UDs/ram air/big LID/bigger MAF/light flywheel/stage3+ clutch/9inch rear end/etc.

..and 15000+$ to spend. Talk to any good sponsor and tell em youre serious about it and they will provide you all the shiny parts!!

But if I can give you an advice, have realistic goals, do you prefer to have an all out race car or something thats street friendly? The best way is bigger cube. 418-440ci FTW!

Fyi

Not bashing texas speed or anything but after doing lots and lots of research, I dont see why the hell youd buy their PRC castings. They are $2200+ shipping and tax. Trick Flow and AFR are right at $2400 and still beat them all the way across the board with flow numbers, and still bottom line, a better head.

408 stroker TFS 235CC heads, fast 102/102 custom cam

Can 500rwhp na be achieved with a 347ci motor, yes. But it won't be a mild set up. It is going to come down to finesse and attention to every little detail. Some might have a different take or aproach than me on this, but a:

Ported super Vic with a 4150 tb, not an elbow style
Very good ported heads
13-1 compression
Mid-high 24x or bigger duration cam with mid .650ish lift (or greater)
Proper springs and valves
Quality 1 7/8 headers
Perhaps an ewp and under drive pulley.

I don't have ALL bad to say about TSP, this is one of many factors than made me go with their 237 casting. Even though I am upgrading the valves:

Ive seen cars make over 500rwhp with stage 2.5 5.3 Heads.

I answered in the other thread, its do able but it takes the right combination of parts, the right dyno and a good chunk of $. No amount of HP should be left on the table with a max effort setup like this, and more than likely OP will have to flycut the pistons. Its alot more common to more cubes, op.

You might have to benchmark after Chris1313.
It will definately be a challenge, but has been proven it can be done.

My stock bottom end 346 made 440rwhp w/AFR205s/MS3 cam/Fast 90/1 3/4 Headers/True Dual exhaust/Yank 4000 stall (locked)

Ur best bet is call pat g for cam and have Tony Mamo do some work for you on some afr heads and either go true duals or ory with flowmaster murge to 4in bullet with dump
Underdrive pulley,e water pump, fast intake,Vic junior or sheetmetal intake(ur choice on intake) and cross ur fingers

I would imagine a polluter cam, (biggest you can get without cutting) and some heads that will raise compression way up, along with some racing fuel, and high gears will get you near it. along with a great flowing exhaust setup and some serious tuning. alot easier to just go on classifieds, buy a procharger kit with everything you need for 4300 dollars and just skip it and go straight for 700+ if you like.

I believe Johnnystock said it best with his quote "Cant cut corners to get 500rwhp". I'm putting down 444.99 rwhp thru a 12bolt/4.11s/4l60e. My motor was built in the BEFORE TIME! They weren't any TFs/AFRs PRC aftermarket castings on the market yet. It can be done but you won't get there cheap.

look at ported AFR 210 ,or trick flow 215,or TSP 227 and bigger heads.get a custom cam from the cam experts to match the heads.consider doing a 383 stroker using your ls1 block.
