What rockers are you using? And where did you get the crank?

How well would this setup do longevity wise on low boost conservative tune?

Stock LS3 rockers. I got the crank off eBay. I have another if you are interested in one, fresh .010/.010 grind and polish.

The shortblock should have just as good of longevity or better than most engines for the reasons I listed in my previous post. The valvetrain is a little aggressive, and high spring pressure for stock rockers. Better heads and roller rockers will be in the future, most likely will go solid roller at that time as well. But for now it will run just fine for what I'm doing. I'm also going to buy a vacuum pump when it goes in the car.

I learned a lot just from you explaining about the destroked engine, I'm pretty sold on having one built. But I think I may go with an ls9 cam. I wish I knew more about engine combos.

off the shelf piston or custom? Very interested in putting on of these together. Already have a 4.8 crank.

They are a custom piston, but they have the same specs as a shelf piston would. Any of the pistons for a 3.622 stroke and 6.125 rod will work. It's a 1.304 compression height piston. As long as you use a 6.300 rod, it works out the same.

Not sure if this link will work since it's on his facebook page.. But Jakson stuck the car on the dyno up here at carcraft last weekend.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10200191608014195

811rwhp, 679rwtq. On only 15psi of boost.

You can't even hardly hear the setup. This car is a sleeper for sure.

Nice! And the exhaust note is very cool. What exhaust are you using in the videos? Makes my single 4" magnaflow sound like crap!

What did your timing look like during that 1100hp pass if you don't mind me asking? Very nice setup.

Thanks for posting up the link Zach. Heres the youtube link incase the FB one didn't work for anyone. Certainly surprised a few people, like he mentioned, the turbo isn't noticeable at all until its in boost. Most the people walking by it with the hood up didn't even notice the turbo, its tucked down nice and out of sight.

Timing is at 19 degrees conservatively right now. This was just a base tune made up on the street the night before, so I could throw it on the dyno at the show! I believe the most we put to it on the engine dyno was 21 degrees.

The exhaust setup is a 4" downpipe necked to a 3.5" cutout, necked down again to a 3" two on the left muffler. On the dyno it was open cutout, the in car footage was closed through the muffler. I'm thinking I want to go 4" all the way back with it over winter, it's a little to raspy through the muffler for my taste, have to let it breathe a little!

Large bore/short stroke/ long rod engines are a common place in the SBC world. I wondered when the combinations were going to start hitting the LSx motors...especially for boosted applications. I thought when Hot Rod Magazine did it's 4.8 budget turbo build, the next thought progression would be motor combinations exactly like this. Fantastic job!!

Theoretically, the short stroke will assist in spooling up quicker....all conditions being equal. Can you comment?

The turbo or the engine?

A 6.0L back to back will spool the same turbo faster, but the de-stoker will "rev" faster-all things being equal.
