Default Dyno Tricks?

I was wondering about things that will make a car dyno the highest possible, I made a list and am looking for real world net gains, if any at all. Feel free to add any that you can think of.

Remove air filter

Lighter rear wheels and tires

Add octane booster

Clean MAF

Carbon Fiber driveshaft

Light flywheel and clutch (if manual)

Take off all belts (if using EWP)

Cool or cold day

160 T-Stat

Cut out

Remove cats

Add over inflate tires and run 1/2 to 1qt low on oil to reduce windage...numbers is numbers. If you feel you need to do these things fine, but its quicker to just measure your pecker. 8cm right here! Just kidding, dont get too wrapped up in it, its not the real world.

Octane boost will only help if you can advance the timing in the tune while on the dyno. I have a cme, but my cutout added nearly 20rwhp...

Heat the weather station to OVER CORRECT the dyno pull for SAE numbers...

I find it funny when people dyno with the doors all wide open, fans roaring, in December/January and make 520/516wtq UNCORRECTED but make 595/588wtq CORRECTED...

Why bother? It's just a number. I use a dyno to show what a mod changed from before to after. If you don't run it on the dyno how you drive it, what's the point?

Edit:

Stuff like a carbon fiber shaft and lighter wheels and tires isn't tricking anything. It helps the motor accelerate quicker by removing rotating mass. Same with a light flywheel and clutch.

Isnt that the same as someone running their car at the track in December to get negative 2000' DA or more.

Most people go by a SAE correction factor for dyno numbers but when it comes to 1/4 ET/MPHs they wait till the middle of winter to get a rediculous DA and get awesome ET & MPHs.

If people go by SAE corrected dyno numbers, shouldnt the track times be converted to the corrected ET & MPH?

Thats alot of money for a dyno number. Just pay the dyno operator to jack his dyno to inflate your numbers.

What are you aiming for? What's the point of the number being higher than it really is?

You talking big and regretting it or what?

You guys got it all wrong. Theres no bet, nor do I want inflated numbers. Looks like maybe I should have said dyno tips? I was looking for real world HP gains if any at all (using the dyno as a tool) from the things on my list. I only got one answer that I was looking for. One guy picked up 20 HP using a cut-out.

Remove air filter---------------------> dont do it

Lighter rear wheels and tires---------> worth it

Add octane booster-----------------> useless

Clean MAF--------------------------> useless if you took care of your ride

Carbon Fiber driveshaft--------------> waste of money in terms of hp gain(unless going with a custom rear end, its more for durability)

Light flywheel and clutch (if manual)---> good investment

Take off all belts (if using EWP)--------> should be the last mod ever, even then its a stretch

Cool or cold day-----------------------> good to brag about numbers but nothing else

160 T-Stat-------------->good ****

Cut out------------------> depends what is your exhaust setup

Remove cats---->best thing on your list after wheels(be prepared for gas smell)

**Theres a lot of better stuff to do with your money for hp gains** like U/D pulleys

What are your mods/car/setup???

Different brands (types) of dynos read higher than others.
Dynapack generally reads higher than others by a stretch.

I totaly agree and have been saying that for years. It just seems that no one wants to hear it. Especially the guys that live on the North East Coast and go to Atco or E-Town. It isn't fair for the guys that live in New Mexico or other places where they never see under +1500DA. Not taking anything away from guys that live near great tracks. I just don't think all the fastest cars in the states come out of one place. If some one posts NHRA corrected times they get jumped on but you better not post dyno numbers that are not SAE smoothed to 5.
