Default Disappointing VR Ported FAST92 Results

I recently put down 443whp and 408tq with a TV2 cam, stock ls6 intake and AI 226cc heads. To finalize the build I had Vengeance Racing port my FAST92 to squeeze every last bit out of my combo.

The port work by Vengeance looks amazing... No complaints about their work whatsoever... Im just very disapointed that I only picked up 10whp with the swap... What does everyone think?

My friend with the a similar build only picked up 9whp from an unported FAST92 swap and a TV2 cam...

New parts for latest tune:
VR Ported FAST92
NW 92mm TB
FTP 98mm lid
85mm MAF

Mods before:
Torquer v2 cam
Stock ls6 intake
TSP 1 3/4 LT headers
TSP ORY
Powerbond UDP
Ported stock TB
AI 226cc heads
**443whp and 408tq

Did you have an unported FAST on the first go arround, or a LS6 intake? I hope you mean you picked up 10 rwhp from just the port work alone and not the intake plus port work.

I wish I picked up 10whp from the port work! This was before and after comparing the ls6 intake to the PORTED FAST! Hard to justify spending 1200bux for 10hp But I do think my cam is limiting a lot of the potential of the heads...

Put the stock MAF back on.

Also, Phil will tell you not to port a FAST with his heads.

Why go back to the stock MAF? The MAF im using is an OEM 85mm maf from Gm.

Did it make more power under the curve? I don't think the t2 cam is holding you back.

It made more power over the entire power band. It didnt lose anything down low, only gained. I was just hoping for 15whp minimum...

Well, I'll probably roll a thread together here soon going from Unported 92, to Ported 92 results. Even though my heads are ported, they could use all the flow they can get!

Why go to an 85mm unless you've maxed out the stock MAF? Even tuned, you rarely gain anything with them. That's another change you introduced at the same time. You might have lost power with the MAF and gained it with the intake.

I see what youre saying. I chose to use the bigger maf primarily because its a direct fit with the 98mm lid. Was looking to squeeze every last bit out

I like how you picked up power everywhere and didnt lose low end. Thats a good way to look at this. These intakes are overpriced but without one you are leaving power on the table.

In my eyes being n/a 10hp to the wheel is big on just a what 200-250 $ port job that's 10 to the wheel think of what it made on the motor.

Yeah you guys are right... I am the type who doesnt want to leave potential power on the table... Car runs great in the top end, now its just dialing in the traction with the 6speed

I would say the increase under the curve is nice even if you didn't see a big peak increase. Exhaust the next bottle neck?

I saw pretty similar results on my ctsv. With the v3 I picked up around 10hp going to a ported 92mm fast.

Also on a superflow so you may have picked up 15+ on a dynojet.

Was the car tuned for the MAF and intake?

You can't just swap the MAF without being tuned for it. Any idea what air/fuel ratio looks like?

Yes of course the car was fully re-tuned and calibrated for the new MAF/Intake. AFR ended up being in the 12.8-13.0 range from 4k on up.... Spent about 3 hours on the dyno dialing everything in.

Just curious: What were the specs on the AI Heads? Chamber Volume, did you opt for chamber CNC contouring and why didn't you go with the 232CNC program if they price is the same as the 226CNC?

You got exactly what I would expect. 10rwh across the board. I see no problem with that.
