Default MTI Stg.2E 5.3 dyno...

Got the car retuned today. I ended up just shy of 390 RWHP up from 362 RWHP and ~382 RWT up from ~355. My car apparently hates timing because it only liked about 21* or so) I was told that I could probably hit 400 if it liked 25-27* but that was not the case.

All in all, I got about 28 RWHP or so. Maybe I need that GMMG sooner than later! That may do it, too. FWIW, this is with a C1 and G-hann LT's/ORP with LS6 intake. You can feel the torque, for sure. Later, all.

What year model car is it... and also, is it a 6 speed or auto?

Who did the tuning? That really sounds like some low timing.

My car's a 99 M6. The tuning was done at Norris Motorsports. Mike told me that it is unusually low timing but my car was detonating up high with any more than that. It was easy to hear, trust me. I wasn't real happy that my car's a picky bitch, but there's not much I can do about it.

Sounds like it may have been too lean up top. What's the CR, what plugs, and what thermostat?

Yeah, that timing was costing you some descent power.

Colonel, I figure the CR at between 10.8-11.0:1 since the heads are milled 30. I am using TR-55's and a 160* stat. It was originally a little lean up top and then he fattened it up a bit but the car still was detonating up high. I could see the puffs out the pipes. Even fattened up, the timing was still around 21* and that's it. Damn, damn, damn!!! Suggestions?

Didn't the 99's have smaller injectors? could this be the reason for running lean?

Lets back up. 5.3L heads milled .030 is more than 11.0:1 compression. What is the actual cc of the heads and what valves are you running?

another thing to check is your FP at WOT. Throw a FP gauge on the rail and see if it drops much during a pull. Might have a weak pump as well.

5.3's milled .030" is 11.7:1 CR on a stock short block (assuming 58cc chamber) try putting some race gas in it and dyno and see what happens..thats pretty high compression.Mike is a good tuner so the issue isnt the tune.Numbers arent horrible for a c1 cam though. Is it running through a cut out or what cat-back?

VInce- The valve sizes are 2.02/1.57

Chris- Definetly something to look at. Thanks!

Carter- Right now, it's going through a Dynomax bullet (for rasp issues) and an Ultra-Flo muffler. That may change soon, though! Also, ORP if I failed to mention that.

I just need to unlock the power that's in there someplace. Like you all, I don't doubt Mike's tuning...just my car! Keep it coming.

Throw some race gas in there and go back to Mike. Your dyno #'s should go up

you have to check the fuel pressure. my stock pump was bad (graph on my site in dyno section) and my cam only setup was running lean up top no matter how much we tried to richen it. stock replacement pump fixed that. i also put in 98 injectors because the 99's are smaller. good luck.
