Default Sweet 1989 Formula with LS1 TVS 2300 swap 650 + hp

Hey all, wanted to share this sweet build we just wrapped up. We've actually worked on it before; a few years ago we swapped in a 411 computer to run his L98. The work turned out really nice and made the tuning a breeze compared to what computers those come with from the factory.

This time around, the job was a bit more in depth. We received the car as a roller. On the list to be added was an LS1 shortblock with a PCM of NC Custom cam, Advanced Induction 799 heads, a TVS 2300 (13-14lbs), headers, an RPM Transmission built T56, quick time bellhousing, Monster clutch, fuel system, FIC injectors, and much much more that I'm probably forgetting.

Here's a few photos from along the way,

All wrapped up!

And of course a dyno graph,

I'll have to update the idle video, this was pretty early in the tuning process so it doesn't do it justice at all as far as lope!

Dyno video.

Can you dig 600 lbs. torque at 3,200 rpm? That's awesome power...gonna need some sticky tires for sure! Great job, Alvin.

No kidding. This car doesn't even try and hook up with the tires that are on it now, lol. It feels like an animal!

Exciting news, GM High Tech is featuring this car in an upcoming issue!

We shot the photos this past weekend at our shop in Mooresville. I can't show you any of the "good" ones now but this photographer (Brandon Burrell) is fantastic!

If I ever had to swap my LS1 into something it would be a late 80's Formula. Such an awesome car man.

It's crazy how much more room the 3rd gens have under the hood for a positive displacement blower.

Congrats, Alvin! Even though you already advertise in GM High-Tech with a half page ad., you're probably going to get swamped with business and that's a great thing.

Thanks! I can't wait for the pics to come out, they looked so sweet when the photographer was showing us the proofs. Plus, this car is freakin' cool, whether you like 3rd gens or not that's a lot of power in a super clean car! The owner will be taking it on the power tour also, should do great for him.
