Hey guys, I added a peak speed ported fast 92, nw 92 tb, Gm 85 maf, dual 3" in single 4" out flow master merge, volant cold air and a new tune. This was replacing a Bbk intake, ported stock tb, k&n fipk, and stock kooks y pipe. Stock 100k mile bottom end ls1 with prc 5.3L heads and Tq V3 cam. Old bolt ons made 435/404, new bolt ons make 460/424. But, this is with an afr of about 12:1. My tuner wouldn't lean it out any more then that.

It peaked about 6200-6300. He took it to 6800 I believe. He said the afr was at 11.1 to keep the heads cool and everything safe. His graph showed 12.1 tho. I know there's more power in it.

Those graphs are worthless IMO.

You've heard of "pig rich"? 11.1:1 on a H/C car at WOT is what I like to call "Donald Trump Rich".
Still though, he could gain some decent power from leaning it out to say 12.7 and still be very safe.

To be honest, I was hoping for more power considering I've spent a lot of money and attention to detail while maxing out my combination. I would've loved to be closer to maybe 480rwhp and that's what I was hoping for. But this is also through a 9" with 389 gears and 315 nitto dr's. My tuner is more of a forced induction guy and a likes to keep tunes "safe". I don't know if it's worth going back at this point and asking that he lean it out some more. I am very hard on the car, maybe this "safe" tune will give my motor some more longevity.

And like I said, even mid-high 12s is safe as long as it's a good tune. But if something goes wrong, like you lose an injector, it doesn't matter if you're "safe" at 12.1 or at 12.7...you're going to have problems.
