Mast Motorsports put together this beauty . It was built for a land speed vehicle, which means you probably won't be seeing it in the engine bay of a 4th gen Camaro anytime soon. That's a shame considering how well this thing performs. Without the help of nitrous, they've got it making 580 horsepower. On the laughing gas it makes 817 hp. Not bad for a 5-liter.

Nice motor. I like how MAST hooked up the Hilborn injectors to a drive-by-wire motor.
1.826 SAE Hp/cubic inch or 110.9 SAE Hp/Liter is great for a NA engine.

That is very good power for the cubic inch. As you can see it isn't a usable street engine though. That same setup with a 4" stroke would have made way more power and a crap load more torque. Obviously it was built with a specific cubic inch in mind and that was the best way to make the power. That big bore allowed for a head big enough to make the power when using a 2 valve configuration and a stroke short enough to keep the cubic inch within limits. That would make for a cool replacement in an old first gen Camaro from the Trans Am series where 5.0L was the limit. That would be an interesting engine for them to build using VVT.
