Default CX Racing 80mm GT45R LQ4 800rwhp

First Ill give a little background on the setup. The car is an 86 camaro with a 99 LQ4 bottom end with arp rod bolts, L92 heads, LS3 intake, tick stage 1 turbo cam, head studs and ls9 gaskets. Turbo is the ebay cx racing GT45R 80mm version (80/77) t4 w/ 1.15a/r. It is backed by a 4L80e with a jakes performance 3500-4000ish stall and a 3.0 gear in a 9"

Dyno run is on ~18psi with 112 octane.

Here are the goods!!

Here are the 3 pulls I made. Lower power pull was 9 psi

Also have some track times to back it up. Only got to make one run at high boost becuase i need to "get my IHRA license and update my safety equipment" hehe.

Holy hell, that right-rear looked like it was about to tear your car in half.

?? explain

Talking about the need for an anti-roll bar?

It needs a serious rear suspension update, its fairly basic right now. Just lower control arms, umi crossmember mount adjustable torque arm and a airbag in the right rear. This day at the track I was playing with pressure in the bag and that run i was up to 25 psi but it didnt really help that much. So its probably time for some double adjustables in the rear and an anti roll bar.

Any sugestions on rear suspension to get this thinkg straightened out? I really dont have much suspension experience at all.

Nice Think you have the highest power gt45 80mm and and the time slip to prove it. Mind me asking what timing you're running? on pump and meth we seem to start running out of turbo around 18 to 20 figuring you're seeing the same just push the timing on race gas

Damn, that is awesome. If you don't mind me asking, about how much do you have into this build including the turbo, all the turbo components, and fueling system?

Thanks, timing is set at 15 degrees on pump gas and on race gas. I use the same tune for pump and race gas and it works very well. 15 seems to be fairly safe for up to 12psi on pump for the street but it also work well for 18psi on race gas. I haven't had a chance to play with timing on the dyno, only ran it at 15 for these runs because that's what I ran the the track.

So there is definitely more power potential with this turbo but I like to play it safe with the stock shortblock.

The build has been on going for many years so I don't really have a total.

Fuel system is an a1000 pump with -10 line and 80# injectors. It was beginning to run out of pump on the high boost pulls. A/f started to creep into the low 12s and adding fuel on the second pull didn't help, just raised injector duty cycle %.

After 18 psi I wasn't gaining much at all hp per psi seemed like the turbos sweet spot on my combo On pump and meth 5.3 th400 and I think 12 degrees gave me 690 at the wheel probably push a little more on race gas

Yeah, I was talking about how much it loaded up the right rear and twisted everything else. Looks like a mix between not enough chassis stiffness and no rear bar. This might help you out....or something like it: http://www.wolferacecraft.com/detail.aspx?ID=217

Its on my list of things to get. I would really like to be cutting 60's in the low 1.3x range but its going to need a little suspension help first.

Great numbers and MPH to back them up.

Power curve looks great. Little Stage 1 cam seems to work perfectly in that set-up, glad we could get you the right cam for your application.

Thanks martin. Cam works great and has a nice little lope at idle. Managed to find out that my ls6 had some lobes ground down so good thing I decided to swap and caught it in time!

The turbo kit is all custom built, here is a link to the original build thread. Been running the cx racing turbo all year and it is working great as well and making some steam

Just wondering how much you have in the engine/turbo side of the build?
