LS3 crate swap 2002 Camaro Dyno results. 450whp/440tq
Finally got her all broken and went to the dyno today. Jeremy Formato did the tuning work and the car drives great and obviously sounds stock. Jeremy was shocked at the numbers it put down and needless to say I'm happy as well. Motor is all stock with FULL bolt ons... For reference a 1le had just put down 410 on the same dyno with bolt ons. Just goes to show ya slapping headers and an intake kit on it doesnt mean everything. AFR was done through the tail pipe on the graph and was around 12.5 at the collector so we probably could have leaned it out a touch but decided to keep it safe.
And then finally here is the old graph from the cammed ls6. This a CLASSIC case of where peak numbers dont tell the whole story. The ls3 absolutely owns the ls6 in the torque department.
The ls3 dyno also was done today in summer florida heat so around 95 degrees and rainy outside....The ls6 was done in low 70's temps and almost no humidity.

Redbird - Did you go with the standard 430 horse LS3 crate? If so, those are awesome numbers and I'm assuming you're using the 1 7/8" ARH's along with the Bassani true duals, electric water pump, and an underdrive pulley? I think that's what I saw in your signature...

Hey guys, ya it is an l99 shortblock which is what I bought new from a guy on craigslist. However the l99 and ls3 are the exact same shortblock. The l99 gets the dod stuff along with some valve reliefs in the pistons but other than that they are identical. So I just got a set of ls3 heads, stock cam, and a set of cometic .040 gaskets. The gaskets just made up for the compression loss in the valve reliefs so essentially it is an ls3 with a tad better quench on the gaskets.
Ya all the bolt ons are in my sig, I'm happy with the power it made for just bolt ons. Ls3's are usually paired with an irs and huge heavy wheels which dont do it any favors normally. But to answer the other questions theres no hot cam in it or anything it has the same compression, heads and cam that a bone stock ls3 has. Just the quench is set at .033, but that really doesnt do aything for power just lets you add more timing which in this case it didnt need.
I think I'm going to eventually add a ported by Crawford intake and some 1.8 rr's and try to hit 470.

i seriously thought about it when I was throwing it together but I just didnt have the extra funds. I think what I decided to do is keep it stock for now and then in a year or so throw a procharger on it. 600whp and a bone stock idle and driveability, how do you hate on that? lol
^Read above. But ya I plan on doing a crawford ported intake soon. However th els3 intake is pretty damn good. On a cam only setup you'd be lucky to see 10whp with a fast. The crawford ported ls3 is the way to go I'll pick up probably 5-7 with bolt ons but a good bit more when cammed. I think it would be cool to do that along with some 1.8 rockers and see if I can hit 470 with no cam.
Drop me a pm I'm in college at UCF but I'll be back down south for fathers day. Where are you exactly?

Will you be bringing it to the track? When my car was heads/cam it made 44x rwhp but was a bear to drive. Can't imagine having the same power but having it drive like stock. I remember along time ago when the ls3 vettes came out there was a bolt on automatic that trapped around 121-122. I couldn't believe it was almost as fast as mine.

I dont really consider that a crate motor since its been pieced together but either way it put down great numbers. I put a 430hp LS3 crate motor (oil pan only thing changed never had a cover off) in a ctsv and it made 420rwhp sae for comparison. LS3's are hard to beat IMO for the money.
