Default Are these low Dyno Numbers for H/C?

Hey guys my buddy just got heads and cam put in his car and got it all tuned and he was not pleased with the #s. here are his mods

Full bolt ons, Jet Hot LT headers, 3" X-Pipe, TSP 231/237 Cam, PP Stage 2 5.3 heads, LS6 Intake, and stock 10 Bolt with 4.10 gears.

Dyno #s are 425RWHP and 400RWTQ Does that sound right?

It 100% humidity outside though so would that play a big role?

Those numbers are good for patriot 5.3`s . Do a search there are a bunch of cars with that setup making 400-415.

Its funny to see people complain with 425 RWHP, a year ago I would of done anything to get that out of my H/C setup. Those are great numbers, personally if you can break 400 RWHP your doing fine.

I'm not commenting on the #s in anyway but do you know what the SAE correction factor was for the run?

This sounds pretty normal, alot of the Austin F-Body guys out here have that same setup and put out the same #'s, I'd be happy if I were you and call it a day! lol

They do seem a little on the low side compared to others with that setup, especially for that big of a cam. Heck 2 years ago I made 420 rwhp/400rwtq untuned with Stage II 5.3 heads and 227/227 cam. Couple of questions on the exhaust setup. Cats? Thru mufflers (if so what kind) or open exhaust? If he's going through mufflers and or cats that's an easy 10-15 rwhp right there. Also injectors is he running and what duty cycle are they at, I was alsmot maxing my 99 injectors out with my old heads/cam setup. What's the compression and what gas were you running, what was the a/f, etc.

He is running a 3" X-Pipe with no cats and bullet Muffler, as for the injectors they are the stock injectors, as for the duty cycle I have no Idea what that is, I am kindove a new with this stuff, the compression is probobly around 11 to 1, being it has the 5.3 heads, and the A/F I will have to find out.

Yeah, still seems a little low wtih no cats, if he put dual cutouts at the headers and ran an open exhaust he might gain 5-10rwhp. 11:1 Cr and 93 octane should be fine even with the weather. How many miles on the engine/bottom end, if it's a lot I'd be willing the bet that's it, people are putting 440-460rwhp with that combo.

When I ran that combo with LS6 style heads I made 451rwhp and 403rwtq with cutouts.. thru my B&B triflow with NO cats it made 435rwhp and 385rwtq, so I think his numbers are pretty good with his exhaust. Some aggressive tuning and taking into account for his 4.10 gears, he'd be at a pretty stout number. Most of the cars making 440rwhp (or less ) are running more expensive heads and cams ground on mean *** X-ER lobes.

That sounds about right, Good luck holding the 10 bolt together at 400+ horsepower . Expect to lose about 10 horse power with the 12 bolt.

That seems a little low. I dynod 419rwhp with a cam only a few degrees bigger through a 12 bolt with no heads at all. Is he having any high rpm valvetrain problems?

Peace,
Josh

Those numbers are great and should be good for 121-123mph through a six speed easily at 3500pounds.

Those #'s sound great to me. I'm in the same ballpark with those #'s. I would be happy with them.

my numbers seem to be low as well, but the diff. with my set-up is, i have the ls-6 style race heads from tsp(patriot) and i only made 425 with all the bolt ons and through lanes true 3" and bullets..needless to say, i was disappointed....oh mike, you never told me if that cam came back ok or if it was a bad grind?
