Default 99 M6 Bolt On Dyno Numbers - Diagnosing a problem

Mods were:

Jet Hot LT's
2.5" True duals, 1 chamber flowmaster mufflers dumped
TSP Air Lid
Jantzer Throttle Body
LS6 Intake
MSD 8.5mm Plug Wires
NGK TR55 Plugs

RWHP was 332, but I didnt get a torque number after 3 pulls because it kept cutting out at high rpms. I didnt really look at the numbers to try to find the torque before it cut out, but it was probably around 340.

I think my numbers are ok, but I need to fix the electrical problem. The dyno man said it could be plugs or plug wires, but is there anything else that could cause the car to cut out like that? Maybe the battery or coil packs?

Point taken...but Im not really looking for more power right now, I just want to fix what I have got. I didnt buy flowmasters because they flowed well...

1. with your same mods minus the throttle body i dynoed 345/358
2. you problem deff sounds like the plug wires, maby not but take them off and do a resistance test on the with a volt-o-meter (sp?) use ohms. my car did that exact same thing. it was bad wires. changed them and picked up a good bit of hp. this was with the cam though. so i dont know what you #'s could be.

The numbers are on the low side. U should be making 345rwhp+. U can see what mine made in the sig with few mods. I would try checking the gap on the plugs.... If ther were under .045 they might cause misfire at high RPM. Try use stock plugs and see how the car runs.

Will try that when I get some free time. I checked the plug wires last night, they all read about 28-30 ohms so they are good. It has to be the spark plugs then I guess...

Thats what I have. I changed them when I did the headers in mid march. We checked all the gaps then, but my dad and I did pull the headers and a few plugs trying to fix an exhaust leak a few weeks later. Im wondering if maybe we screwed up one of the gaps when we did that. I know we took one or two out. I just hope this is the problem, cuz if its not, I have no clue what the problem could be.

Any chance the battery could have something to do with this?

And yes I am going to check my plug gap tomorrow, been real busy this week.

id have to say it a slim chance, next thing id check is coil packs and conections, pull one plug wire at a time and see if idle changes, if it does put it back and try the next one. if you find one that affects it less or not at all check the wireing and swap the coil around with another one and see if it the coil or the wireing. not garunteeing nothing, but is another thing to check.

If you have over 50K swap plug wires and let me and BLKWS6 slide an FMS cam in there and watch the HP show up.

New plug wires, and I have been planning an FMS cam for months, just want to get everything right before it goes in

Thanks Rodney, will try.

K, spent 5 hours on the bastard today. Pulled the plugs, plug wires, coil packs. Spark plugs were all gapped just above .050, so all those were good. My friend said was one loose enough to take out with his hand, and two others were too tight, so who knows. Put them and the plug wires back in. Then we decided to check the coil packs, so I call Advance Auto and they say they can check them. We start checking them, and his meter shows 3 of them as bad (Checking ohms across the four terminals, if you want to know how I can try to explain, but its complicated). So Im like...awesome, I have 3 parts bad that cost $67 a piece. So we go home, and I check them with my ohm meter, and they all check out fine?? So I put them back on the car and rode around for a few, but I could never feel a problem in the first place.

I guess my only option is to go get dyno'd again and hopefully it wont cut out...if it does then I assume Im out more dyno money and I will need to buy some coil packs? Frustrated
