Default C5 Z06 does pretty good on the dyno

I just built this engine, close to a cam only car.

LS6
Stock crank
Eagle I beam rods
Mahle Forged piston
Stock 243 head port, milled for 11 to 1
Stock LS6 intake
VMax ported throttle body
Vararam intake
LG Superpro 1 3/4 headers, catless X pipe, stock over the axle

EPS cam, 228/236@.050, .600 lift, 111+1
Pac 1218X springs
7.350 restricted .040 push rods
Stock rockers

At the time it was on the dyno it had the stock LS6 clutch, it slipped on the street and now has a McLeod RST in it.

Right at 440/400, If I would have cooled the car off it would have easily made 440/400. I pulled it straight off the street and strapped it on the dyno.

Different dyno, torque is WRONG...pay no attention to it. This is the graph when it was being tuned, not much cool down between pulls.

6700, cam is done at 6500 which is what I wanted.

I shift the car on track at 6000

Nice setup. Im partial to c5z's. Lol
Just a note.
You are giving up a great deal of power shifting that low based on your dyno sheet. On the drag strip it will kill et. That puts you as low as 270hp @ the shift recovery point.

I'm road course guy, wringing the guts out of it on a road course doesn't improve lap time.

When Geoff at EPS and I talked about what I wanted I told him I wanted a cam that bested the LS6 cam everywhere, I didn't want to give up anything anywhere in the RPM band.

As you can see, he delivered, it mimics the LS6 almost perfectly on the dyno graph.

You can see the cam is nosing over at 6,000 and is done by 6,500. If I ever do take it to the strip or run someone on the street I'll shift it at 6,500.

Thanks, the car is a riot to drive. It makes good flat torque....that makes a car fun.

Sounds like you got JUST what you were after! That doesn't always happen.
I am also a believer in "horses for courses".
Hope you're having an absolute BLAST!
(Nice car with cool wheels, BTW!)

Got ya. Sound like a fun setup.

Shift as high as your motor can handle at the strip.

Good job OP. Not bad for the LS6 intake.
