Gonna do a thinner head gasket and 1.9 rockers since i have a set. The fast 102 is gonna get massaged a bit more. I have thought about porting the heads but haven't made a decisionon that yet. If i did it would be a mild job.......but i say that before the grinder is in my hand lol

Will the 1.9 rockers necessitate heavier, higher-lift springs? Or are your present ones already good for it?

I like this. Of course no more bolt-on engine, but the hell with it.

Mild port and angle mill the heads (13.5:1 or more), E85, 1.9 rockers, thinner gaskets, Swirl polish the valves and put some good angles on them, Vac pump, port intake, headers only exhaust, and you might hit 500rwhp with SBE 347 and LS6 cam. That would be epic! It would also put horsecock camshafts out of business

lol....that's kinda whats happening.

I have 1.9 rockers. Figured i would only cut the heads .010 tho. I did a mild port, no swirl polish but that's a good idea. Although the valves seem like very nice pieces with nothing there to really back cut. I have a vac pump thanks to HioCrew . Maybe use some rocket fuel i can get by with on my fuel system. Hopefully see some decent gains but I'm not so sure about 500whp. Be cool to see it do 480-490 tho.

if it does 500 I'll rub muh weiner on the dyno rollers as a show of respect.

We did a swirl vs no swirl test on the engine dyno 2 weeks ago, was good for 8ft/lb and 6HP (6.2L) with a huge restrictor. And finally getting them to swap from delco iridium plugs to TR6's also netted another 5HP.

Ive always thought it'd be cool to take a LS1 to the max with stock parts like an LS6 cam and home ported 243's, I cant wait to see your next round of upgrades

Every time I read about your setup it makes me want to continue with my ls6 top end swap instead of running a bigger cam. Mod wise I know that most consider bolt ons to be fine for normal driving, but have you done anything that would hurt normal driving in search of the numbers? I love the idea of a car driving like stock but making 450+whp with simple parts. Also curious what you would see from just ported and milled heads now..

The engine was very docile. Mpg's were good....Idle is smooth. Biggest fight with drivability I've had was trying to get the ls7 maf right.

hopefully it will be back together soon.

I figured so because of all the stock parts. If you were to rebuild the bottom end would you have made any changes that could help but still keep it "bolt ons only"?

Probably not. You could blueprint it I guess but everything there is strong enough for the power it would make.

The LS, even being a pushrod (considered old-school) design, was so far ahead of its time it took everyone by surprise once its potential was realized. No one saw it coming....
