Your opinion. Many would find it excessive. I would not want to drive it in heavy traffic.

you deserve to be disappointed for sending your computer out instead of getting a dyno/street tune.

Thanks for your option. Didn't have 12 hours to drag the car to the tuner . Was under the impression a basic tune from somebody that new what they were doing would get me going . Then we could fine tune it from there.

Even if/when someone knows what they are doing, a mail tune is never more than a shot in the dark. All he could do was make a fair guess at your setup.. And the ASA cam doesn't help, as it's tough to tune for street driving as it is, compared to a stock LS3, which this is not due to the cam. Hio was right; it was his option to give his opinion.,

I mean it's normal to send a pcm out or get a mail order tune to get a car going. But don't complain about it if you knew better. And certainly don't blame the engine if it's not performing right because of that or other issues one might have.

Hopefully p31 will learn from his mistakes and get it sorted. Those are powerful engines and could/should get about 500whp in a good state of tune/bolt ons.

Man yall are some pussies lol I drive a 251/258 110 lsa daily . in trafiic . with a manual lol

Good tune = perfect drivability.

p31 jeff.. a mail order tune is just to gwt the car running to check for any issues. You need a street tune.

Was getting a bad reading from a 02 sensor . Runs and drives great now. I was not hacking on the tuner if anything he was more than helpful and gave me lots of help and advice.
Now I have all winter to do a 9" for it. Then fined somebody in the area that knows what they are doing to dyno it

I have about 600 miles on my Connect & Cruise Crate LS3/525/T-56 in a Cobra Kit Car! It has 3.55 gears and weighs in about 2300-2400 pounds! It’s got 1 7/8ths weld-up-headers 3 ½ collectors down to 3” ID Cherry Bomb side pipes! I still have a lot of work to do and it’s not been tuned yet! I don’t what it’s making but it seems pretty strong, I put it on a Suzuki 1000 V-Strom a couple of weeks ago!

Any cam in a stock displacement/compression LS3 that has double-digit degrees of overlap REQUIRES 'hands-on' tuning to run well.

Including the ASA cam.

KW I know mine does! I'm still trying to come up with a better way run the intake tube and better place to mount the filter!

I'm not sure you have much choice other than what you have, going only by the pic above. Underhood space is TIGHT! Do you feel there is too much restriction with the present setup? Looks like 4" all the way, though two ninety degree turns might be affecting that.

The 2 ninety's, the length, heat and it's sucking hot air! You're right not sure there's much choice! Last resort an air box for the filter pulling air from the side vent and insulate the heck out of it! I'm gong to look into lowering the radiator and support enough to bring cold air in over the top of it? I may also try some air straighteners in the intake track since it will be a short run? I need to get it figured out and choose the least worse option and move on! I'm going to blow it back apart for paint and get the interior done, It would be nice to have it ready by spring!

Is there any way to run the intake tube straight ahead and over the radiator, putting the air filter ahead of the radiator? Cool air shall then be YOURS.....

Not the way it is. I'm going to see if I can lower radiator and support to give a little more room, the hood hinges also may be a problem! Thinking of something like I have seen on some Vettes, wide but only 1-1.5" high!

Most Shelby Cobras I've seen have hood scoops. Could you direct air into a boxed area where the filter is now, or build a channel into the underside of the hood that dumps the air forward like the Camaro SS hoods do?

(Some dope drew the 4 lighter arrows facing the wrong way on this image, but you get the idea.)

EDIT: Maybe this hood is a bit clearer. Air gets scooped around the center of the hood, comes out at the front of the hood in front of the airbox instead of above the intake.

At the risk of sounding an unpopular fact, something else I don't like about this cam is how much CO is emitted. For the people behind you it's a miserable experience I'm sure. I decided to measure the CO at about 3', and then park my other car (windows up, A/C on) behind, as though it were at a stop light.

Behind the T/A it reads 95 ppm or so of CO.

In side the other car, in 1 minutes 40 seconds it read 41ppm

I want to see what a tune will do. Maybe it will clean this up a bit, but my feeling is that, with the choppy idle, the low speed drivability, and the breathing impact (for all involved) this cam is coming out. CO aside, it doesn't cruise well, the bark of the cam isn't backed up by the bite, the unburnt fuel smell stinks, literally, and I'm running catalytics.

Your car will also know every gas station in town as it gets about 9-10 mpg. I'd rather have a stock GM LS3 cam.
