Dyno estimate for 416? Will have result on June 29th
#23
I would have said the OP needs more fuel system in general. A 255LPH pump may be enough pump, but the pressure drop from the pump to the injectors will be a killer. That can be accounted for in the VE tables, but with that 416, I would have touched more of the fuel system.
My guess is 530WHP if the fuel system keeps up, good luck!

My 99 TA is at Norris Motorsports for the dyno tuning next week It's been a long time coming. The TA is finally repaired and sorted out after being stolen and having the new 416 trashed last year.
What hp & tq do you think this set up will make at the wheels?
Let the guesses rip and all estimates appreciated.

517 whp @ 5900 rpm
471 wtq @5300 rpm
Jimbo for the win on the estimate!
Maybe running out of fuel pump or out of cam. Mike said injector duty was 74% and the AF OK.
400 tq @2800 feels stupid fun in the car
~ 450+ tq from 3500 rpm to 6000 rpm does make me smile
I like my new "truck" engine

If the air fuel is ok and not going lean, it is not out of pump.
I sprayed a dry shot and made 518 rwhp through a 4800 stall at 11.5 air fuel for the nitrous and was still fine. No hot wire kit either, 255lph pump.

Enough negative Nancy, congrats on the powerband, OP! Torque is fun!

Jimbo, looks like the only reward is the honor of being spot on with the estimate and our admiration
When I talked with Darin Morgan at Reher - Morrison, he spec 'd this set up to be very daily driver friendly. Very similar to the H&C package on his 5th SS Camaro. He said whp would be between 500whp -550whp depending on the details, the dyno & tune etc. I will email Darin with the results, graph and details, hopefully he will have a time to make a few comments and suggestions.
One interesting thing to me about the dyno graph is the shape curves look almost exactly like the old LS1 heads & cam combo with TEA S2 5.3's, & 224 XER cam. The 416 just Just added 65-70 foot pounds of torque and a 95-100 horsepower at every rpm. The old one had been an excellent daily driver set up and this new one is more fun to drive.
The Hooker Blackhart dual exhaust x pipe set is 2.5 inch and that might have started to hurt in the upper rpm. The 2.5 is good to ~600 hp and my set up is getting fairly close to 575- 600 flywheel. The Kook's 3 inch true dual would almost certainly have hung to low for my driveway and work's nasty parking lot speed bumps. A pair of cutouts off of the headers might free up some hp at the price of noise.
WS6 Store suggest more fuel pump as well when we started discussing this build. I had just installed the Racetronix 255 hot wire set up a few months earlier so I didn't really want to redo it.
I asked Vengeance Racing moving to a set of ported mid-length runners and VR said I would need a much bigger cam and 7000+ rpm to see benefits. That's unlikely to be the direction I choose for the car.
Feel free to make additional suggestions and I may add the to my hit list of this to do. My girlfriend's son suggested dumping the Fast 102 intake for a used LSA blower
Paths Forward - Wish List
Given the ordeal, the TA's been through with having been stolen and recovered with the new 416 engine damaged, I'm grateful to have the TA back and running well again.

Paths Forward - Wish List
- -8/-6 fuel line and external regulator is on my wish list for this car.
- Consider a bigger fuel pump.
- Get my Fikse FM10'S cleaned and a new set of tires
- Consider twin electric cut-outs off of headers
- Replace stock rockers w/WS6 Store trunnion upgrade with Yella Terra roller rockers.
- Replace the original power steering pump with a more efficient one.
Given the ordeal, the TA's been through with having been stolen and recovered with the new 416 engine damaged, I'm grateful to have the TA back and running well again.

The real tale of the tape would be the scan file from that run. All you gotta do is check MAP. With it peaking so early and staying stable it, if the map pressure drops, youre out of intake or induction.

At 2500 rpm the MAP was 98 Kpa and dropped to 95-96 at 6200 rpm. Showed 97 Kpa at 6350 rpm.
Doesn't seem like it dropped much.
Is 95-98 Kpa a decent valve for that range of rpm?
Jimbo, I will make a clip of the car idling. The car has the Hooker Blackhart mufflers.
The engine doesn't have oil squirters for the pistons oil per the shop. The shop would know given, they had to got through the motor after the car thieves trashed the engine. It was my understanding from ERL that the block did have squirters. Apparently a misunderstanding on my part.
