Default 9 sec 4.8

Well decided to go provide some keyboard assistance to a buddy of mine this last friday. After a couple of beers, decided to turn the wick up on this engine. Shifting it at 8100rpm, 30 psi, stock un opened 4.8 bottom end, just LJMS stage 3 camshaft, double springs, and pushrods. Stock heads, lifters, rockers, heads, gaskets. Has a china wheel s480 t6. 4l80e built by the owner, and a 252 from circle d. Truck weights 4620 with driver in it. Truck made 96x rwhp on 30#. 9.4 @ 144. We might turn it up some more, we are going to spray a 100 shot possibly. We need a 3rd walbro 450 though. Heres a pic and a vid:

That's nasty on a SBE 4.8 at that race weight. 93 octane?

That's impressive. I see 4.8's in the junkyard all of the time and people pass them up in favor of 5.3's and 6.0's. For the $250 to $400 that the yards ask people are passing on some serious potential. Nice job!

Love it! Some guys are recommending built engines to make 800hp, meanwhile a stock 4.8 comes along and makes 950+ through an auto and backs it up running mid 9's in a 4,6xxlb truck! Just goes to show how strong stock stuff is as long as you fuel it and don't try to run a million degrees of timing.

Laying it down in H-Town and doing it all on a stock bottom end too? WOW!

Freaking nice! Hawks 3rd gen had a teal 92ish firebird with twin turbo 4.8 doing 7s.
I just got a 5.3 core from work from a customer's engine swap I did for $75 core charge lol. Gonna put redo bearings and head gaskets. Maybe mild port on heads and a low lift truck cam as its going into my 04 tahoe and is the family vehicle. But... The 4.8 in it now has 280k and kicking strong still AND the engine bay is currenty empty on my 85 z28 so.... There's a lot bouncing around in my head... But budget is an issue also. So will be a sloooow process. But your build is pushing me more closer to lsx'ing my 3rd gen!

8100 rpm, geez, I wouldn't even take a built motor that far.

Ummm... think again. 4.8 has longer rods then a 5.3 or typical stock LS.
