Default N/A E85 results

Experimented on the Dyno today. I just had to swap a 340 pump in I have had laying around and switch the E85 in .Pretty interesting results. Locked and unlocked pulls with no timing changes. More timing didn't help so we left it like it was. Ls2 ported heads and cam full bolt ons.

I wonder if this is enough gains to show at the track and how much myself. Definitely better gains through the rpm than the actual peak number.

I have always wondered if e85 makes a difference at the track.
i did read something a while back that some guy picked up 3 tenths with the fuel change only.

You're not getting that much unless his tune was off to begin with on a na car.

from what we seen on the ls3 stuff probably 1-1.5 tenth and equal amount of mph. If all the adders are right for the flex fuel. It can turn into 0 pretty easy if it all isn't right. That's on flex fuel stuff.

You have to have enough injector and pump. My injectors are 50lb and are almost 90% duty cycle now at wot.

I'll probably keep the 50s for now. I think I'll be fine since it's n/a.

Yes everything stock for now. I'm going to run at least one line and maybe use the factory feed for a return and put a regulator under the hood just to be safer . I don't know how long the factory regulator will hold up . I got a flex fuel sensor on the way too.

I am inclined to agree with you. I was surprised to see that much gain.

There was a guy from south Florida that said he picked up 3 tenths at the track. Doesn't seem like most n/a ls motors pick up that much. For forced induction there are substantial benefits, not just hp.

It seems like the OP picked up throughout the curve so I would think he could do a little better than a tenth better.

I wonder if it helps more in the heat because of it's cooling properties?

The newer GM LT motors seem to pick up 25-30 hp.

I would be extremely happy if I pick up a tenth. My compression is 11-1. I have read it helps reduce the negative affect of hot weather. I also think the new cars being direct injected helps them benefit more from e85.
I will test soon. Got rained out this week .

I had a c5z that I ran on e85 flex fuel. A little bump in compression, AFR205 heads, a few other bolt-ons and it made 400whp with the stock cam.

I ran an E50 mix when I did it. I didn't pick up any power at peak, I did pick up 15 ft lb on the low end.

The car would feel night and day different entering vs leaving the gas station though. Throttle response was much stronger. Part throttle and midrange power felt very improved. Biggest thing was I lived in Socal where it would be a hot as ***** 95-105 degrees all the time and the car ran much cooler and more consistent on E.

I'm going to run my LS7 on flex fuel mostly for the cooling properties and the peace of mind that it won't rattle if the engine gets hot.

More info on that c5z spanks. I had a ls6 on pump gas and made 451whp. 400whp is a walk in the park on stock 243s and stock cam in a ls6.

I would think if the afr's are doing anything at all you woulda been well over 400whp.

Thanks for sharing!! I'm getting ready to do a p59 swap in my 03 C5Z and play around a little with ethanol/flex fuel. Typical ported 243 heads, cam, header type setup.
