also just to give an idea, johnson does have maximum recommended spring pressures. He basically did say they are rather conservative, and have heard people running lots more and running for awhile. They are 185 seat, 510 when valve open. He said u can go a little over on either just not both, again he said he has more faith in them than that.

extremely promising update, called johnson and in a nutshell, no matter what brand of 15/20 W 50 oil, several tests have proven oil temp needs to be at least 185 degrees for the oil to act like an oil and do its thing........me with my 205-210 coolant temp may see 165-170, maybe a touch higher while cruising, but no way am i getting 160 on the dyno.....i also asked him will your lifters be more sensitive than a longer travel lifter, he said for sure because the chamber inside the lifter is much much smaller, sorta forget what he said there......but basically said throw a 10/30 or 10/40 in there which will react proper with the lifters at lower temps.

my builder says forever ago he thinks he seen a thread that said quite a few people have used joe gibbs/driven break in oils with johnsons, unsure which ones, but have had bad luck with it.....thoughts on this? car has had probably 20 pulls now so i think we can throw an off the shelf conventional 10/30 in it for dyno purposes to see whats up.....builder says his previous shop used a lot of lunati lifters that were not short travels so the times they did use a 20/50 those lifters maybe could tollerate it a little more? idk either way this is the next move

I was chasing TQ numbers like you after doing cam/intake swap and the problem ended up being the clutch.

Here is my thread :

For the clutch see if they can do a MPH view instead of an RPM view. Basically 1 to 1 final drive (4th gear with stick) the mph should be around say 115 mph using a 26.5 inch tall tire at 5252 rpm. If your tire is taller or you want to do it at a different rpm adjust accordingly. Beware of also dyno tire slip.

What did it end up at the 589 / 521 as stated above or did they find more?

yea it made those numbers that was the last of the pulls, had a few odds ad ends from it sitting.

i think it has some oil leaks, under WOT the headlights dim etc.

feels good tho will get a dyno graph loaded tomorrow

Get that alternator tested and upgrade your wiring (Big 3). Probably worth it to just upgrade your alternator - Powermaster or Mechman. If you headlights are dimming at WOT/high RPMs, your fuel pump and/or coils aren't getting the current they want either.
