Nice clean graphs. However that will not break 330 hp on Dynojet and even less on a Mustang dyno. I have seen the same car run on all 3 types. The Dynacom reported 342 hp, the Dynojet 311 hp and the Mustang Dyno 306 hp. 1/4 mile trap speed will tell the tail. Did you dyno it bone stock?

This ain't 2004 with your typical Fbody with Pacesetters and NC PCM mail in tuned.

This dyno is legit.
No stock dyno but i did dyno my other car a few weeks prior and it definitely made less power than others it has been on
(including Vengeance's and LWA)

Good numbers....Now it just needs a mild bump stick.

Think what you want to think, then weight it, run it down the track and figure hp based off math. The numbers are inflated. The dyno I tune on put my stock M56S at 370 hp and 390 torque. That engine made ~420 hp and ~430 tq at the crank. A stock LS1 with long tubes and a tune is not making 410+ at the crank especially choked up with a flowmaster. Not to mention a 4.56 gear probably eats 10 hp at the tires compared to the stock 3.42s. It will not crack 330 hp on a correctly calibrated Dynojet or Mustang dyno. My buddies heads/small cam 6.0L with a TBSS intake and long tubes made 350 hp and 315 tq on the dyno I tune on.

Welp when you use a Mustang dyno your #'s are gonna be alot lower
Sounds like your "buddy's" 6.0 build is a complete f'ing disaster tbh

Did you tune that one ?

My last Fbody made 295 whp stock then 325 whp with long tubes and a Lid
No tune

What do you attribute this car making over 30 more whp than your previous example particularly with the steep gears which lower power?

5,300 lbs ECSB has run 12.70s @ 104 with that power with a 4L80E and a 3.90 gear. I do not see a 12 second NA 6.0L in a daily driven truck as a disaster. Truck just had boost added to it. I watched a stock LQ9/4L60E setup with LT headers, exhaust and a tune not crack 300 hp on the same dyno.

What does it matter if I tuned it? It made what it made. The AFR is on point and so is the timing. Its just not inflated like some numbers I see. I have been tuning longer than some of these younger so called tuners have been wiping their own backsides. I have been tuning since before HP Tuners existed.

I am with you! I have tuned stock cars with long tubes and actually lost a few HP by richening them up to a safer AFR. With long tubes they can run extremely lean. Lean is mean until you smoke a piston or two. That being said 12.5:1 vs 13.5:1 is 2-3 HP lost but much safer on the engine long term. I cannot tell you how many I have seen with the PE multiplier jacked around to give 13:1 and running 30° of WOT timing.

Good discussion and points being made in here

The "free mods" are an OG thing. They've been proven to give a solid 10 whp.
I attribute the tuning+free mods as a big advantage in whp over my last Fbody.

I'd love to hit up the drag strip with my current Fbody but I really don't want to launch it with the 10 bolt/4.56 gears combination

I was under impression that aftermarket rear ends (12 bolt/s60) caused a loss of power not an aftermarket gear set.

I heard about the flowmaster being junk on Fbodies back in the day "the blowmaster"
I haven't seen any data on this though

A Cam is definitely in the works
Maybe a set of ported 241's too

I think the numbers are a little high, but nothing worth a fight over. Everyone says they have Heartbreakers dyno, but mph at the track doesn't lie so it will be cool if it makes a pass. Higher numerical gears are well proven to lower dyno numbers so going from a 3.42 to a 4.56 is quite a jump and probably canceling out any free mods, but obviously makes the car accelerate faster which is what matters anyways. What size cam are you thinking? Nice to see the car respond to mods for sure.

This was a "free" mod I actually did back in the day too. Combined with smooth silicon tubing it was a 10 whp on an otherwise stock L31 350. Most of the gain came from leaning out the overly rich factory PE fueling at WOT.

I saw 12 whp going from a single 3" in flowmaster to a single 3" out magnaflow and no other changes on a ~200 hp TBI 350 truck. I also ditched the flowmaster the PO had put on my 2003 4.7L Dakota. It was very noticeable in the way it pulled at higher rpm. Above 4,000 rpm the flowmaster sounded like a vacuum cleaner with a full bag on the 4.7.

I also had a buddy with a LS1 car gain 3 tenths and 3 mph going from a flowmaster cat back to the old SLP Loudmouth.

I have never been a flowmaster fan since.

Nice
yeah i had a magnaflow cb in my TA and prefer it
not decided on cam specs yet
Something rowdy
I've known Josh at SpartanLSX for many years and he has spec'd out several cams for me

Correct.. Over 4 to 1 ratio will read approx 10whp less on a dynojet vs under 4.. So 3.73 or 3.90 gears will read 10whp more than 4.10s...
My 98 ws6 t56 with motive 4.10s, auburn pro diff, LS6 top end with the ole FAST 78mm intake plus all the bolt-ons + free mods etc tuned.. Made 392-393 whp & 386wtq in my buddy's dynojet.. Would have broke the 400whp mark if kept 3.42 or went with 3.73 or 3.90 gears..
My 02 t56 with factory 3.42s.. Full bolt on with high flow catted y SuperMaxx system (ws6 has ory), and tuned with ole Diablo Predator hand-held tuner on same dynojet made 355whp & 371wtq..
Conclusion.. 243 heads, LS6 cam am FAST 78mm intake manifold with ory pipe only worth 15wtq... Hell no!!!

I bet it takes a decent amount of power before the muffler becomes a restriction on ANY car. Otherwise we’d be seeing gains from muffler swaps on an otherwise stock vehicle.

I have seen a good bit of power changing only the muffler on several vehicles over the years. I have seen even more power doing a full exhaust. Maybe a LS1 muffler flows better, but even my stock L03 TBI 305 1991 RS gained about 30 hp with a full exhaust from the head ports back using shorty headers. My Titan gained 15 whp swapping the stock muffler for a Magnaflow. My L31 Express van gained 12 whp swapping the stock muffler and tailpipe for a higher flowing Dynomax Ultraquiet 8.1L replacement muffler with its matching 4" tail pipe. It gained another 10 whp changing out the 70K mile GM 3" cats for 3" thunderbolt high flows. It gained an additional 15 whp changing up the air intake and using 4" tubing off the stock air box and a 4" MAF. Thorley tri-ys and the GM 196/206 @ 0.050 marine cam really woke that L31 up after it could actually move air into and out of it.

Need underdrive pulley, electric water pump, vacuum pump, 102mm fast intake and tb, and a chris1313 ram air intake and see what it really does!
