Default mustang vs. dynojet

i put down 531 on a dyno jet, averaging about 515-520 a pull. yesterday i put down 420 on a mustang dyno. also the tq number was lower than the hp on the mustang dyno. is there that big of a difference. same type climate and humidity

If you ask me mustang dyno's are kinda quirky and while most say its a 30-40 hp difference between the two the only way you can know for sure if something is different is to go hit the dynojet again.

FWIW I put down 470 hp on a Mustang dyno and about 500 hp on a dynojet so I saw a 30hp difference. I think a 100 hp loss though like in your case is a bit much. I would go to the dynojet just to compare. A couple of questions what was the a/f on both the mustang and the dynojets? Timing? did the graph peak early on the mustang dyno?

Daniel, get that other stuff checked out and taken care of and repeat on the same dyno/operatore, only way to make accurate comparisons.

I think your plug(s) are toasted. You also need to order that check valve from McMasterCarr and get it installed so you'll stop blowing the dipstick out.

thursday my buddies stock w/lid filter '01 WS6 dynoed 243rwhp 355rwtq. these numbers came off a mustang dyno w/o any wideband. the operator said the dyno could calulate his 1/4mile and that he would run a 14.66 @ 100mph HAHAHA mustang dynos are a joke, at least this one is.

Its most likely the operator, not the dyno. There is nothing wrong with Mustang, Superflow, etc. load capable dynamometers. Just when you have more capability, you have more room for operator error. Like most test equipment, with a trained operator a Mustang Dyno is about as accurate as you can get. With an idiot running it, you will probably get more incorrect test than correct ones.

Yea, i knew some thing was up when i saw the differance in the HP-TQ, 243-355. this piticular dyno is in a deisel mechanics shop here in town, they have nothing to do with performance.

My buddy wants me to go dyno there so he'll have an idea what real power he has. (i dynoed at TSP last week so i'll have something to compare to)

OH, he paid 75$ for 3 pulls, HA HA
