It gained me right around 0rwhp.. yes, ZERO. I wish I had that $500 back to spend on a tubular K member. I also crapped away the same amount on a set of Yella Terra Rockers that are currently residing in my garage in a box 
It wasn't all that bad on the LT-1 cars cause the pumps were half the price and took the stock pump off the cam. As far as LS-1's go, you gain minimal power cause you aren't reducing much friction plus the price is more than doubled because you are buying a whole housing.

You didn't see any HP from the YT's?? I noticed a big difference...I smoked my clutch when I installed them...and I also noticed a big difference in gas mileage...to my surprise it got better. I would say next to the LS6 intake..that was the best mod for the money.

In addition to weak HP gains, you get a bonus! Short waterpump life! Woohoo. That's what I really want...a water pump that might fail after a few thousand miles. Does the pump at least come with a disclaimer, "not recommended for street use"? Weak. It's probably better to buy the power steering underdrive pulley (I have heard some people say that they have run it with an underdrive crank pulley with no issues...but I don't know if I would really run both...).

Yea, for $600....it's definitely not worth it. Who knows how long it will last...my luck it would break when I'm 300miles away from home.
I'm putting the race version on my upcoming drag car. Not so much for any hp gains, but just so that I can circulate the engine coolant with the engine off while i'm in the staging lanes or pits. If you have a manual fan switch and that pump, you can drop the engine temps pretty quickly.
Everyone looks at a electric waterpump for Horsepower, you have no idea how quickly these cool your car down between runs. Engine temps drop like i never seen with one of these. If i had a race only car, this would be a must

I know the street version pulley acts as more of an idler pulley because it is not pushing any water, but even so the street version would still give some kind of resistance. I have read the pulley acts similar to a fan to cool the electric motor (please correct me if I am wrong) and pushing that air around would certainly build some resistance.
We went with the race version because we were not planning on running any other accessories except for the alternator, and the HVAC had already been removed so we did not need the provisions for the heating.
I've driven the car in stop and go traffic, on the freeway, and at the track and the motor stays at the same temperature no matter what. In fact I don't think I remember hearing the secondary fan kick on since we installed the pump. It deffinately cools the motor as well as advertised, and if anything else it gives the motor a nice clean look.
P.S. Gomer, with all the time you've spent on the dyno, i'm surprised you haven't done a back to back comparison of the two. Keep up the good work, and its awesome to see you got your car down to the track.
