http://www.gordon-glasgow.org/hpcalc.html You use this calculator and then subtract 18% of the calculated HP, by doing this it seem to reflect the Dyno jet numbers very closely. Give it a try and see what you think.

Another thing I have noticed is that a lot the cars especially with the bigger cams tend to pick up an additional 15-25 hp after tuning. Do you think that is an issue? Guess you did not think much of my hp calculations. Do you not think they reflect the dyno numbers?

Sorry I haven't played with the calculator yet. Oh and the car has already been tuned. I was thinking last night that maybe the cam is making it's peak right whent the converter is loosing efficientcy and thats why the graph goes flat and starts to fall off. With a 114+2 Lsa it would peak in the higher rpm range.

Would it be better to use the corrected (0') et and mph #'s to get a more accurate hp #?

Corrected #'s are: 11.18@119.87

If I use the corrected #'s I get 479.3rwhp -18% = 393

And at that point the cam is only showing a 37 rwhp increase. When a converter is ineffecient it may 60' well but the mph usually will suffer your mph seems good for the weight of the car and amount of power available. If it were me I would lean more to the cam than converter.

So your saying that my converter is robbing me of around 50 hp unlocked vs locked???

I am not sure if the corrected numbers would make too much difference. No I am not saying that you are looseing that much, what I am saying is I believe there is a problem with a dyno giving accurate numbers without the clutch being locked. It looks to me like it would be hard to tune it on the dyno with a unlocked converter. For some reason the dyno has a hard time fully loading the auto cars with the converter unlocked hence the low hp numbers which in turn makes me ask the question how do you tune the car when it is not under a full load. I think your car ran very good before the cam, but I do not believe it has reached its full potential with the cam, that is why I do not think it is the converter, but time will tell when you get the yank in it. I have seen you at the track and you know a friend of mine, he has a pewter formula with exhaust manifolds and cats on it, his name is Ross, and his car has run a 7.64.

I have the Silver WS6 Formula. It has done a best of 7.90 86 mph it is stock except for Holley filter, converter and M/t drag radials. You are doing the right thing, you are asking questions and making changes and that is what it is going to take to meet your goals. I am not claiming to be an expert but I have been drag racing cars all my life and am a research addict, so hopefully I have helped.

You have been a great help. Now we will see what happens when the Yank goes in and if it doesn't help it's time to look at the cam.

Yes I am ancious to see if it helps, and if for no other reason to compare the two converters will be worth while. Keep in touch and let me know how it turns out.

Bain
If you get a chance look at my cam only thread as there is at least one guy that posted the information I was looking for. He went from 360 full bolt on to 415 with cam which is 55 at the rear wheels.
