Have you ever monitored fuel rail pressure on a dyno run? If you can maintain 58PSI throughout the run, 30lb injectors are plenty. They are rated at 45 PSI so at 58 PSI they are ~30% larger and flow about 36lbs (fuzzy math). Rail pressure even on a 255lph pump can drop to close to 40 PSI if not wired properly. We've seen it on many ocassions. The 255 pump needs more than the 18GA stock power feed. We use that to activate a relay supplied with a 10GA wire connected to the battery. That solves the fuel dip every time and makes the tuning easier and more reliable. We've used SVO 30's on cars with more HP than this. Maintain a constant source of current and you got it. The 42lbs work but they just sort of compensate for what I just mentioned.

There have been people that have made over 600 rwhp NA with LS1s. You just don't hear about them on the board too much. Judson Massingil's '99 SS from S.A.M. made WELL over 600 rwhp NA (might have been closer to 650). This was over a year ago and he was still running LS6 heads. Of course, we're talking about a solid roller 418 with lots of compression. A little more extreme than your garden variety street motor, LOL. With C5R or LS7 heads, the bar should be raised even further in the near future.

Bet the SAM motor wasn't 11.6:1 either and run on pump gas. Apples and oranges. Comparitively speeking, 680 is week compared to the 355CI Dart little M engine we did about 9 months ago. Made 973hp on the engine dyno at over 8000rpm. Again, apples and oranges.

There will be a 600rwhp n/a pump gas motor here sooner than you think

Of course Mikey, I wasn't trying to take away from the stellar numbers you've produced. What you have done is brought big horsepower down to the level that the common man can afford. That's a much bigger accomplishment in my book. HP per Dollar grabs alot of attention and your LS2-based 402 has return-on-investment covered in a big way!

Yes, 18* ported Brodix. Just making a point that your comparison with the SAM motor and this 402 is apples to oranges. Kind of like comparing the motor in my 9 second T/A to this one. Not even close.

Your comparing a high compression, solid roller race gas motor to a very street friendly pump gas hydraulic roller. Apples to oranges. Let's put the question this way. Who has made 600rwhp on a pure pump gas hydraulic roller street car? We will do it soon enough and it will be with the AFR heads at a measly 225cc's of intake port volume.
