Default Preliminary results for 385 ci nitrous motor

We made 40 pulls last night on the car. Some to 7600 rpm. Learned a bit more about the setup and parts. We had a list of items to try...some worked...most didnt.

First...dynoing with cutouts closed the car made approx 485 rwhp and 435 rwtq. Opening the cutouts seems to be worth about 30+ rwhp. We instantly made 515 rwhp.

Next...since we saw good gains on the cutouts..I wanted to remove them altogether since they were actually a 3" opening in a 3.5 inch pipe. There was no significant gain there. Then I removed the intake and dynoed with open TB. Did not gain one bit up top...but lost a ton down low. The intake we have on the car seems to work very well.

Then Jeremy went to town on the tuning. We ended up making 522 or so rwhp and somewhere in the neghborhood of 450 rwtq. I think it actually needs a tad less timing and a lil less fuel still.

We tried the shortbelt trick but didnt really pick much up...maybe 5 HP. I think it was 525 on that run....so the belt went back on. Jeremy still has a few things to try..and the motor needs to loosen up a bit more. Seems the more we ran it the more it kept creeping up on average. Next week the FAST intake will be ported..that should net significant gains. And a few more things to try as well. All in all I think 530+ rwhp is possible. Not too shabby for a 385 ci with 11.5 to 1 compression on 93 octane with no tricks. Im pretty happy so far. It made over 500 rwhp from about 6000 rpm to well over 7000 rpm and barely drops off at all out to 7600 rpm. Valvetrain doesnt miss a beat. Gotta love it. Ill try to get some graphs up later.

Now its time to begin wiring the juice

Big thanks to DIno and the boys at Rev Extreme (sponsor>) If someone wants a solid roller 385 im sure they would be more than happy to build you one.

I wonder what the drop off would be w/a hyd. roller and a 6800rpm shift point...
Perhaps 30RW less?

This proves to me u dont need big cubes..
Whats the bore/stroke combo....

Very impressive

JS...bore is 4.060 and stroke is 3.72 (offset ground stock crank).

I will try to get some nitrous #s in a week or two. Brandon is getting the FAST intake tommorrow and will port it this weekend.

Anyone have any feeling on what 8 direct port nozzles hanging down in the intake might be costing me? Debating wether I should dyno with plugs in place of the direct port nozzles.

Motor has about 200 miles on it. If it wasnt raining I would be out driving to break in in a bit.

What was done to the heads above adn beyond what TEA did? I assuume you threw in some taller valves and 1.48" springs.... but any porting or chamber work?
Ive got some TEA Stage 3 LQ9 heads coming and I'm excited you made great power with 385 ci. (mine is a hydraulic roller 388)

Viscerla...Pete at CNC helped me with the valvetrain for the final setup. I tried to use the valves from my old heads and a few other things and they ended up being different lengths and a few other small issues that would have made it difficult with the sfahft mount rockers. So Pete had REV custom make some intake valves for me and some spring pads. He also setup the final spring pressures for the Futral cam.

All the porting and chamber work was done at TEA.
