Patriot 5.3Ls @ TR224 112LSA 214cc intake port

2000rpms 301rwtq
2500rpms 325rwtq
3000rpms 352rwtq
3500rpms 361rwtq
4000rpms 370rwtq
4500rpms 379rwtq

Peaks 391rwtq @ 4900rpms

My biggest gripe about my setup is the flat spot in rwtq from 3000-4200rpms, it climbs very slow in that range and picks up fast after 4200rpms. Lowend and peak torque are very nice.

Not really looking for 427 A4 numbers, I think Brent should have specified H/C cars with a stick transmission, as we have seen A4 H/C cars hit 500 RWTQ. Thanks for the reply though, are those torque #'s with the convertor locked?

as is this thread is just another "dyno" thread.

before the wide use of the AFR 205 heads the only note worthy setups i recall are the TEA 2.5 ls6 and custom FMS cam, a few LGM combo's using ls6 heads and x2/x3 cams. i must say, that TEA/FMS combo had the most beautiful tq curve i'd ever seen; 350rwtq @ ~2800 and 400rwtq @ 3500 .

do you remember the port volumes on those heads brent, i seem to remember them around 231cc.
they were pretty close to that. Our new port is more like 224-225cc's and flows better.
the biggest size differences will be between an AFR 205 and some of the other ported heads. I am just seeing if there is a huge torque gain with the small cc runner like we have all been told. so far I am not seeing it.

"torque down low", to me, means how the engine runs from idle to say 2500 or so, not something that's measured on a chassis dyno. I.e, how does the car pull from 1000 rpms in 4th gear, something that happens all the time in normal street driving. This thread seems more like a midrange discussion.

this may be but if your cars rpms are below 3xxx you wouldn't be in your "racing power band" right... so i ask why does it matter how much HP/TQ you get at 3000 and below.

this would be false if you have an A4 with no Torque converter
but i would think if you had a M6 you would ATLEAST leave at 3000ish.

I guess im just curious to y the down low torque is so important?

as for me im looking for 3000+ power.

could some one help me understand the big HUB-BUB

Thanks,

Tyler

he asked for everyone WITH AFTERMARKET HEADS AND A CAM TO POST THEIR NUMBERS BLAH THROUGH BLAH RPM, NOT WHAT YOU DID WITH A BLOWER, CAM ONLY, OR BONE STOCK. Jesus christ people, read and quit acting like a bunch of show boating nubs.

Not every car is track-only, the majority of us drive on the street, sometimes under 3000 rpms...

I figured as much. The reason I posted was because I don't recall any 427's having peak torque under 4000RPM's. I'm used to seeing them at 4300-4600 and mine came in at 3400RPM's with the "small" ports of AFR's.

right, mine too is a daily driver. but if the hp is at a low rpm it wouldn't be very usefull. becaue WOT your Rpms shoot up and you are now longer at low rpms... I'm truthfully not trying to be a jerk or any thing i'm just trying to understand how you guys see it.

TIA

and your post was very productive and on topic...if you are going to critique others you might want to at least post up your numbers of your heads/cam car (if you have one) which it doesn't look like you do...so i suppose you just flamed yourself good job
