Everyone please post torque @ 3000-4000
Engine dyno testing with specific cams would help a lot in removing variabilty imo.
Throw in a 224/224 114LSA cam then swap heads and tune each head combo. Very precise...
Then repeat for a different spec cam etc
That is the only way to really have a decent comparision

this is with the f 13 112+4 with a ls6 intake and ported t/b through Mac headers and oryp. Very nice tq curve, great throttle response but I give up a good bit up top from heads only flowing 257@.600 on the intake side.
We will be testing many cam configurations so it should give us a good idea of what is going on.
Ignoring the stock head posts, I find these averages (if more than one result, singletons otherwise):
3000 3500 4000
350 - 368 - 394 - AFR 205s
347 - 374 - 389 - Absolute Speed
352 - 361 - 370 - Patriot Performance
342 - 357 - 366 - SLP
340 - 345 - 377 - MTI
318 - 356 - 371 - TEA
325 - 350 - 365 - JPR
So, the small port AFR heads seem to be the torque kings in the range TEA wanted to examine, with Absolute a close second. The big surprise is Patriot, who comes in third and seems to be the best at 3000. Strangely, TEA is the worst at 3000.
Remember that figures lie and liars figure, so take this with a grain or two of salt

3000- 365
3500- 373
4000- 380

Note a couple things: How bad the heads work above 4500 rpm, and how well a good Y-pipe design makes.
As far as what my numbers show... is that there are too many variables in this "study". And it reminds me how bad my heads are.
Thank God I have a set of TEA stage 3 LQ9 heads on order to go on a 388.
On a seperate and trivial note, on the 388, the POS ARE heads did:
3000- 375
3500- 395
4000- 415
(and only peaked at 438 rwhp, 425 rwtq)
With a 230/228 MTI X1 on a 114.
Im hoping for 460+ rwhp with the smaller ported TEA stage 3s.
