Default Dyno Chart for TSP235/240 cam

Just dynoed today. The car put down 430.7 rwhp @ 6400 rpm, 397.5 torque @ 4900 rpm running through a Moser 9" with 4.11's. Ambient temperature 71*F. I'm pleased! This is on home-ported heads with stock valves, QTP 1.75" headers dumping into a 3" Y with 4" output, ending just before the axle. Still running the stock spark advance and compression ratio.
Full specs: 235/240 .602/.598 112+2

Thanks. Idle is reliable at 1000 rpm, but rough from there up to 2000 rpm. It surges and bucks quite a bit in the same range. 2000 to 3000 feels stock, above 3000 you feel it kick in, and it's an animal from 4000 to my 7000 rpm redline. I love the way it drives, but at first the bucking was iritating until I got used to it and adjusted my driving style. It never dies at a stop sign, but I did a little of my own *creative* tunning. AFR at WOT ranges from 12.7 to 12.9.

do you have a stock bottomend b/c my cam was just tuned and it peaks at 6400 and goes to 6600 on the graph I have to ask my tuner what he set my rev limiter but I am scared to shift higher than 6200.I see you have no problem with rpms 7000

Yeah stock bottom end on 2001 and 2002 LS1's have stronger rod bolts so they will take 7000 rpm, just don't do it every day. It would be better with ARP rod bolts, but I haven't got mine installed yet. I have the rev limit at 7000 rpm, but my shift light is set for 6800 rpm. Last year, I had the rev limit at 6750, and I was bouncing off it all summer. So I think this new system with the light and higher rev limit will be better. BTW, I approve of your avitar!

Great #'s Cal! That cam seems to be making better tq (across the curve and peak) than the other advertised (popular) TSP grinds.

Thanks! Several people at the club dyno day said I had the best sounding car there. Another guy got some video, and I'm going to see if I can get a copy. I actually have three mufflers: one Dynomax Bullet on each header collector, then a Borla XR1 race oval on the output of the Y. This mufler has a four inch inlet and outlet. I fabed the Y from 3 inch stainless mandrel bends from Stainless Steel Works, and used a 4 inch Flowmaster merge. All three mufflers are straight through, so it's still pretty loud. I have a removeable 3 inch over-the-axle tube that I can throw on for AutoX. They have a 94 db limit.

That's really good for home ported heads with your drivetrain! Did you get any flow numbers or port volumes for the heads?

Yeah not sure how much I'm losing through the 9 inch compared to the stock 10 bolt. I really wasn't planning on porting the heads, just had them off to replace a bad lifter, then I said "what the hell." So I didn't get any flow numbers or port volumes. Just bead blasted the carbon out, then removed the rocker bolt bulge and about 80% of the swirl ramps. I blended the valve seats into the bowels, tapered the valve guides, and just did a general clean up and smoothing. Nothing radical. I should have milled them while they were off, but didn't really have time for that or installing bigger valves either. So that leaves some stuff to do next time I tear down the motor.

Looks like I even got a little more than you did. Too bad you didn't have my dyno graph to show them when you were selling the cams. I think this cam will do 460 rwhp with the right heads, since they get that with the Mini Stick cam, which is essentially the same thing.

Thanks SuperSlow. I went to the drag strip Saturday to try and get some times, but the upgraded motor turned out to be too much for the stock clutch. I didn't even get one run out of it, poor thing's totally fried . . . Spec IV clutch intstall begins tomorrow!
