Easy man, they are just throwing out possible scenarios as to why he didn't trap better with the power he is putting down. Thanks for the input, but all our experience levels vary and that guess was as good as any.

And you ran that the 1st time you ever sat down in the car right? That is what "test & tune" nights are for. With practice the guy can get better.

Nope, I sure didn't. But, then again, I didn't mod my car to the point of 545HP before I learned to drive it either. If he had a stock cobra and was running 17 second quarters I would be fine with that. Would you want this guy to line up beside you at the track? I sure wouldn't. At least he is learning at the track instead of on the street. (I hope) It's still a little scary to me though.

Cobras are only fast on the dyno. Line up a 400rwhp F-Body and a 400rwhp Cobra... It would be sad. The good part is that you can make more power easier with the cobra.

I suggest you get to the track a little more often my friend. Mine went 11.29 with 460rwhp (many mods ago).

This one seems to run pretty well.

run a 12.3 with 309 horse on an stalled auto stock weight too.. 3624 with me in it


SO 400 horse 12.0's sucks bro. dont be pointing your finger at anyone. Maybe YOU need to learn how to drive as well?

400 should be 11.4's

That statement confuses me

One definition of speed is distance traveled divided by the time of travel. The distance traveled while on a dyno is 0 (use whatever unit of measure you'd like...it's still zero).

well back when i had a H/C only setup on my SS ( bout a 1.5yrs ago) makin 428rwhp&394rwtq and my buddy w/ an 03 Sonic blue cobra w/ a few mods( exhaust, CAI, and pulley swap) was making 427rwhp&443rwtq. His sure did feel a hella lot faster than mine when i rode in it despite our similar rwhp numbers. maybe cuz he had about 50rwtq on me but i dunno. i had 4.10s and he had stock 3.55s. We never ran cuz soon after i got my SS back( like 3 days later) he left for 16 months but he's back now and making around 450-460rwhp i think he said so im gonna run him in my TA and see how it goes but i know i'll have to spray to have a chance.

Well i'd like to add my Point of view on the whole dyno queen theory....people who CAN'T drive have dyno queens...people who actually can drive usually get these cars where they should be...I have personally raced a whippled 590 rwhp cobra....i beat him pretty good on the street but i am also a better driver,with 85 less hp...it's all about the driver.....Plus i am a Eaton faithful and will shoot the car with spray before i take the eaton off to make more power

Good point.

Let's also consider that the majority of our cars are works-in-progress. Very few of us have completely modded cars. For example, I personally dumped all money spent thus far into making power...not hooking it up. Now that I am running decent power levels, it's time to start building the drivetrain/rear end. My stock clutch finally gave out. The motor overpowers it greatly therefore I'm certain I've been robbed of good 60's, ET, and mph.

So, it's only natural for a 600rwhp car that weighs damn near 4,000lbs with limited to no drivetrain mods to run poorly considering it isn't properly setup. Drop a live axle in a 600rwhp Cobra and slap on a pair of slicks and it will perform like a champ. Also, the phrase "run poorly" is open for debate. High 10's / low 11's at anywhere from 124 - 134mph is very good all things considered...especially for a car that behaves like it's bone stock on the street when at part throttle.

Seem reasonable?

I wana throw the BS flag because of the HP v.s. MPH, on bald street tires I went 12.6@120 cutting a 2.4sixty foot with 400rwhp.
