It's getting there Still waiting on the Edelbrock stepped LT's to get welded up and go in. Supposedly it'll be done in the next week or so. If I was doing the work, I would have skipped classes (and sleep) for a few days and had that bad boy up and running. Alas, I am at the mercy of my mechanic who currently has 8 cars that people have brought to him b/c other shops have F'ed them up. Hopefully soon though!

I'm just really not trying to rush him after all the bad luck I've had with my engine(s). I'd rather it be as thorough as possible, however long it takes. An extra week or two doesn't mean jack compared to the fact that my car has been down for over 7 months. I'm just used to not having a car now

I built a 408 for a customer about 2 years ago. He ran out of money at the end of the build, so I re-used his stock, LS1 241 castings. The motor had 11.2:1 compression (JE pistons, Lunati Pro-Mod rods, Callies crank), Hooker 1 3/4 headers w/ y-pipe and cutout, LS6 intake, and all normal bolt ons. The car made 470rwhp/470rwtq with a very conservative tune. With 1 7/8 headers, a good set of heads, and a Fast 90/90 the car would have easily 535/500, if not more!

Yep that's the progression plan... wait until next spring when the FAST 90/90's and heads have gone down in price. I've spent way too much this year on the car. Time to start saving back up again for the spring.

I would really do alittle clean up on the heads, especially open the exhaust up. The 1.58" wide exhaust port will not support 1 7/8" headers very well. not to mention you have the bore/stroke to force out burnt matter very efficently. There are some guys around that could get you better results out of the 6.0 heads for a fairly cheap price. Good luck.

The heads are certainly not the best possible match for my application and they can definitely be improved upon, obviously. Problem is money.
