Default Are my hopes too high?

Just got a HPE 408 built for me that has the following:

11:1 SCR
Stock LQ9 Heads
244/248 .635/.627 112 +2
Edelbrock 1 7/8 stepped LT's
SLP LM
LS6 intake
Ported and Polished TB
March UD Pulley
Small crap (Lid, K&N, SLP CAI)

In the future I will be going with a 90/90 setup and some better heads but don't have the funds right now. I'd like to hit at least low 400's with this setup. What can I realistically expect out of this?

I'd definately throw in a cut-out, but I dont see why you couldn't hit 460's+

Was thinking about a cut-out, but wanted to see what I could pull with this setup first. 460's would be nothing short of amazing

I don't think he'll hit 460 with the stock lq9 heads. i'd guess somewhere around 425.

You may be right, I over looked that. With the size of that cam and the motor being a 408, i dont think its going to breathe well.... So you are right

It may not have a killer top end but damn will it have some low end grunt!

So how long until you get the coin for some ETP or AFR heads?

Whats the SCR?

I'm going to say........ 450 with a good tune. Probalby breathe semi nice with the 1.875 primary. But it wont have the top end of heads..

Oh, been a while since I talked to ya, how long have you had the motor now?

I've seen 460+ before with similar setups, so you will at LEAST make your goal of 400 to the wheels

Good luck. Call us if you need help on the tune.

Blue Six - it'll be a while... this is my second engine in the past 6 months and I'm still in college. Needless to say, my money tree is becoming a money twig.

Brandon - PM'ed you back.

Chuck - I'll def be on the line with you all if I need some help. I'm gonna see whta kind magic my tuner can pull first.

Oh yea, i forgot to mention I got all the accompanying fuel parts like intank 255 and ford svo 42lb'ers so I'll have a bit of leeway on the tune.

I would imagine 450 easily if you have an m6. Maybe 430's with an auto. The cam is pretty big and stock lq9 heads will flow similar to ls6 heads.

Why not do a little clean up work to your stock heads to help flow? Just some short side radius work and some smoothing of the exhaust and chamber should help out a good deal.
