Default Edelbrock replaced Macs dyno results

I switched Headers from Macs untouched to Edelbrock stepped headers with the Merge colectors . Went to dyno today for Futral to retune as I had a lean condition it cold weather with the Macs. Rather tehn taking it to him to get retuned, I waited untillafter the header swap.

I dynoed at Thunders dyno day back in November and the car only put down 405/396 motor and I installed a dry nos kit and tried a 75 shot with the macs it went 465/482.

Went to Futrals and made a few pulls on the Edelbrocks with no tuning as they richened it back up to 13.5/1 So we left it there. It made 425/410 on motor and started out with the same 75 shot We made a pull and it was around465 hp but it was at 15.5/1 af so we did some tuning on that and the final numbers are 518/535 on a 75 shot , I picked up 93hp and 125 ft lbs of tq

This is a single Nozzle in the bottom of my lid with a #42 jet at 1050 psi of bottle psi.

As for the Edelbrock to Mac comparison, The Edelbrocks Hands down sound way better, fit Better, go on easier and Are of great quality. It made power every where over the Macs not just peak. It should do well at the track, maybe a 10th but the sound is worth the swap alone.

THe ti tech coating actually looks real nice. About the same color as the aluminum heads maybe a shade darker.

Now for some Nitrous passes to see what the extra power can do

The numbers in my sig are from when my f13 cam were tuned. This is what I am compareing the new numbers with , not what the car dynoed at Thunder as on dyno days you only get 2 pulls. It takes 4 or 5 pulls to get everything warmed up good to get the best numbers .

What injectors and pump are you running with the dry kit now?

Congrats - Great gains!! I sure wish they made those in 1-7/8 to 2 stepped - that coating is nice.

John, you going to Ervington on the 20th? I am still going but I went to No problem last night and my car hooked good the first 2 passes 1.62's leaving at 4500 instead of 6000 So here is another comparison for the headers. the macs would bog down at 4500 with the aluminum flywheel. I just could not get a good clean 3rd gear shift in last night for nothing . The tranny fluid is getting changed before Ervington , Lucas is good in warm weather or after driving the car for a while but sucks when the car was trailered and 45 deg outside. WE were running 1/8th mile and having to shift slow and with a sucky1.77 60 ft ( worn out m/t drag radials) I went a 7.53 @94.88 mph

If I drive it harder I believe it will se 95+ mph in the 1/8th.

Scoggin Dickey , talk to Kris. Macs were not really hurting my times though, I believe for power alone they were not really worth the swap on a mild setup. ON the nos or a stroker of any sort, they are better though. THe sound change was worth it to me though.

I cant knock the qtp's for the price but these edelbrocks are the best bang for the buck out there IMO. no Slag in the primary tubes and all quality peices and everything you need to hook them up including o2 extensions. If you want to put your emissions back on later , they come with all the fittings to weld in yourself.

So, just to be clear, did you get the slip-on merge collector or the fully welded LT's (merge came already in place)?
If you got the slip ons, did you weld them on? Did you weld the O2 bung into the Y or the collector?

And, also, you gained 20rwhp/14rwtq NA? Correct? That's great!

I am not sure of what the gain was because last time I dynoed the car , it was down on power. That was at Thunder racing and no warm up pulls.

The only true way for me to tell is go to the track and look at mph. I know at 2800 rpms, the Edelbrocks were making 365lbs of tq and the macs were at350 at 3200 rpms.

at 3200 rpm's the edelbrocks are at 370. but for some reason the Macs hit 400 ft lbs at 3800 and the Edelbrocks dont hit 400 untill 4500 but carry out over 400 lbs to 5300 where as the macs were down to 380 at 5300.

They moved the tq curve up in the rpms further where I will use it leaving at 6000 compared to tire frying tq down low. I will see if I can get a graph up later along with my last one from futrals back when allan tuned my car last time. I do think there is a little wear and tear starting to take place on teh bottom end though . It will show in mph next time I go 1/4 mile.

difference between this time and when the car was first tuned is I now have a aluminum flywheel helping the hp a little but it was on there when the car was dynoed at Thunder as well. I will confirm the mph difference and let every one know.

Oh I got the slip on Merge collectors. I did not weldthe tubes on , just put a tac weld on each tube to make sure it does not fall off. they fit so tight that I dont believe they will leak.

i put the o2 in the collector by Futrals recommendation.

The sounds of lack of traction.
Sounds great, like the Edelbrock catback sound.

The sound is awsome through the Edelbrock cat back but it dont flow worth a ****. I lost 24 hp through the muffler over the cutout

I think of it as a way of slowing down at the track when I get warned for going to fast. .3 and 3 mph from the cutout.

all I need now is a electric one to flip on the fly

So your numbers are with a cutout and not thru mufflers?

Any pics of the Edelbrock headers with merge collectors?
