Jason, a lot of guys building 408s need to take a few notes on your cam choice because you make killer power and torque in the mid-range and up high.

Notice: IVC at 47.5 degrees ABDC, dynamic compression over 8.5:1, and overlap biased to the intake side of TDC. All textbook examples of how to make big power with a smaller motor (on a college student's budget). Just think how much power you'd be making with some of those high $ aftermarket head castings!

First off I want to say killer numbers Jason. Once again you have showed you can make great numbers without spending tons of money. Its all in the setup.

Second I can say I have heard and taken a ride in his car in person and it sounds really good. It has a little rump to it but over all it sounds pretty tame, but really really quick.

Congrats on finally getting it running, lol.

I'm also curious as to why you had to use 7.350" pushrods. was it due to milling a certain amount off of the heads, if so how much did you take off.
Thanks! No new #s on the setup. I just honestly haven't had time to mess with the car at all. It still needs a good bit of tuning, but still quite driveable. Once school lets out for the semester, I'll be able to devote more time to it.

The heads were only milled .005" for a cleanup pass, but the block was decked .020" to get the pistons back out the hole. For some reason Mahle's compression height is about .015" too short on their 4.00" stroke pistons and this left the pistons .013" in the hole. Lifter preload is .070" on the intake and .075" on the exhaust. I'm using Comp OEM replacement lifters.

Thanks Patrick! I think there is a bit left on table with aftemarket castings. These PRC 5.3s haven't let me down yet though! I was going to try a set of the ported Darts, but decided against it for $$$ reasons.
