I agree 100%. With that big duration and wide LSA, the dynamic compression has to be in the low 8s...hardly anything that would require timing that low. Could be false knock. Add some Torco. If you still get knock with higher octane, it's not detonation but false knock.

probably needs to seal the knock sensors in with silicone so water wont get in there...

well, that was my problem with the 12-15 degree's of knock i was getting!!

How did I know you would be looking at that intake.

It almost seems like you're disapppointed with over 500 rwhp...all motor. Dude, that's nothing to sneeze at. And I'm sure you'll find some more power in it the way it is (with the gift that keeps on giving)

I would try between 22-24 degrees of timing. Curious why you aren't spinning it to 6800 or even 7000 rpms.

Drkphx-I'm going to try and run some more timing. I know that some thermal management is in order via the exhaust. SW sent me a nice email stating the exhaust would be shipping today.

This is what I'm running now:

Single 3" with 30" muffler

I'm installing this system:
dual 3" with x pipe.

That exhaust looks like it will make a DRAMATIC difference in power at your level. Good luck with it!

so 548 open headers...

not bad, BUT like its been said, you should be running more like 28* timing. I'd be looking for the problem there before you go farther. NO WAY should you be only 15-17*. you're probably leaving 20-30hp on the table there and more with the a/f. really looking forward to seeing final numbers. I would hope ETP 245's open headers and a nice hydraulic cam would make close to 600rwhp.

I will tell you the most we could run with my ET245`s was 22 degrees. Anymore and I started to lose power bigtime. The heads flow so we`ll-they outflow my 90mm intake. I have talked with ET and Mike at G-Force. Mike said ET recommends me going to a higher flowing intake and my numbers would jump bigtime! That also is in my future! But for now I`m going to run her and see what I have at the track.! Even when we locked the converter once. I still had over 500TRQ with my A4. My curve is LONG and FLAT. Don`t know why. but I love it!!

I'll be doing a write up on fitting the Harrop in a F-body here towards the end of the month. If your thinking about getting one, you might want to put your name on the waiting list, cause I've been waiting a while. As for your set-up, i think it's doing great. With the addition of timing and getting your exaust done, you'll be on up there. 550+ is outstanding for a 408.

You still have plenty left in it like everyone claims! I think you will be more than happy with the final outcome. Now get that KR figured out and get back to it, maybe give Jeremy a chance to have a look at it also!

Not really. Everything else is the same price and is more oriented for all out drag.(sheet metal) The ported FAST is about the best thing offered right now. ET is making their new intake, but there's no telling when it will be put into production. From what I understand, it will be similar to the FAST, but aluminum, so it will be much more portable.

i made 550 rwhp 501 rwtq with my 408 vette full exhaust, 254-266 .646"-646" lift 113 lsa cammotion grind cam, out of the box afr 225's, out of the box fast 90/NW 90 tb, kooks 17/8's headers, dual 2.5 inch GHL's, your power seems low, considering those heads should flow much more then mine, but i think the problem that everybody is having is the FAST manifold simply cant flow that much air.

I'm with ya Ryne, nice car by the way. I'm really wanting to finish up the current setup after I change the exhaust and look into the a new manifold.

well i think the exhaust will help out alot. my went with dual 3inch spintechs on his vette from dual 2.5 inch ghls pick up 15 rwhp, from 485-500 rwhp. this is on a mild 408 vette. i can imagine that you corsa exhaust flows less then the ghl's , so you may pick up close to 20 rwhp increase.

I hope the pickup is that dramatic! I'm really hoping with the addition of the exhaust I'm able to run some more timing. This is still a WIP(work in progress) and I'm hoping my assumptions are right.

Your exactlly correct Ryan. The intake can only move so much. Once you've come close to it's peak, making more power is going to get harder and harder.
