Default Wheel HP vs. track performance?

Guys,
I just started collecting information about actual chassis dyno data and 1/4 mile performance. It's kind of a nerdy thing, but I'm just looking for a trend of power and performance from people that have actually dynoed and raced their cars. I know area under the torque curve is really the driving item for overall performance, but I'm thinking that with 100 data points of just peak horesepower and mph, I should have a pretty good trend established.

If you guys don't mind, post up what your car made at the wheels, how it did at the track, and what it weighs approximately. I don't want desktop dyno data or any other estimates, just actual track and dyno results. PLEASE if you have NA and nitrous or blower data, post both results! I may end up with an NA graph and a power adder graph since the power adders end up with lots more area under the torque curve usually. I'll sort it all out once I have a pile of information

Here's what I've got so far. The image should update as I add data in my webspace.

EDIT: took the straight HP vs. MPH graph off.

For reference, a 3600lb car (like an f-body) making 400whp is .11 power:weight on that x-axis. Those cars typically run in the mid/high 11s around 115mph, so the data so far makes sense and the equation supports that.

My car made 407whp and went 11.37 @ 117 on the bottle at 3700 lbs vid

Thanks in advance. I'm sure there are some other theories out there and that "set up" plays quite a role in ET, but mph should be a good approximation. I know that once you get going over 125mph that aerodynamics and other stuff really start to play a role. So I'm kinda just looking for 10-14sec cars 100-125mph to keep this sane.

New guy,
TJ

NOS327,

This is your thread and I do not want to hijack it. Would it also be ok or hurt your data analysis if posters also listed the type of heads they used?

Sure thing. I'll add another column in my spreadsheet and post a link to it so that you can do what you want with the data provided.

Thanks for the help fellas.

RWHP, MPH, approx weight, heads used. Anything else you guys want added? I'm trying to keep it relatively basic to minimize my book keeping details. You guys will probably all be grouped as NA LS1 or power adder LS1 in what I have so far.

Oooh, another curve ball... Should I factor up Mustang dyno results by 12% or whatever the accepted value is to keep things on a level playing field? For now I've just put an asterisk by his info so that I don't forget later.

Graph updated.

Maybe your HP number is off. I trap 111 with only 382 HP. And that's with a 2.2 60'.

Thats happened to me before in my 99Z cam only A4 vig3200 and 3.42s. It made 388rwhp locked but only went 12.40s@108-109mph on 275/40 15in bgf DRs and skinnies @ Est 3650race weight so JNorris scanned it for me and i was getting an *** load of KR so you could just have a small easily fixable problem. My TA before the w/ the FMS tune made 397rwhp but only ran 12.70s@108mph on 315/35 nitto DRS w/ an est. 3750 race weight. I had Gomer check it out and there were a few things messed up in the tune(which im not blaming Allan) that he fixed and went from 381rwhp w/ lots of knock, low shift points, more KR, verter lock probs etc etc but after the 3rd pull he fixed all that and got 394rwhp & 375rwtq outta her and she runs like a **** now. He said it was the highest dynoing cam-only A4 w/ a 12-bolt that he's ever done and oh holy hell I could definately feel a difference!!!

Could you add M6, A4 or A3. Or does that matter.

It does matter somewhat considering drivetrain losses, but I'm not tracking it. Typically people who lose a little with the autos have a little bigger stall than stock which aids them slightly at the track plus it removes a poor stick shifters lost time in between gears. I'm trying to make a trendline spanning 200hp and 25mph, so it should be close enough regardless of tranny.

98LS-won, did you want me to add you to my data? Can I get an ET and weight with that?

ive been doing the same thing as far as looking at rwhp/race weight. in not so great weather i went 12.1@117 with 416rwhp and 11.9@119.9 in great weather. RW was 3620. i find out alot of people with NA motors in the 6.9lb/rwhp-7.1lb/rwhp trap roughly 130mph. and the FI cars are at roughly 6.0lb/rwhp to trap 130mph. im talking about 6 speeds to. auto's will trap lower.

~345rwhp unlocked

(it was actually 343 but I ported the TB just before my best run)
