Default My 427 dyno, analyze this graph

Got it on the rollers at TTP, Matt tweaked the tune and got the a/f smooth (TTP did not build it or do initial tune) and this is the result. Doesn't even make 350rwhp until 4K rpm's, torque peaks at only 4500 or so and the motor isn't making anymore power after 5500. TTP and I both suspect valve float with my heavy Comp Magnum rockers as I was afraid of, with the 1.75 ratio and cam lift, total lift is right at .650 with Patroit Gold springs. Looking at going with lighter stock rockers which will also bring the lift down some. Peak numbers are 489rwhp, 490rwtq. Very dissapointed, but with the luck I've had with the entire project I'm somehow not suprised lol. And FWIW, it is seriously using oil, probably 1 qt every 100 miles and smokes out the tailpipes after each shift, as someone at a red light informed me. Smokescreen when floored, not sure if that is normal with this setup. Main mods are below:
TEA stage 3 6.0L's, 2.10/1.60
Port matched 90mm intake, NW TB
244/250 112 (total lift at .649 or so)
11.1
93 octane
12 bolt/4.10
Evans water pump
SLP keyed pulley
QTP 1 7/8's, orp, wide open Borla
TSP 85mm lid, 85mm MAF

You sure you're not getting KR with it burning so much oil?

To be honest I'm not sure. The first pull before anything was done showed a little detonation, and the a/f was pretty erratic, but that got smoothed out. I know a big motor like this will use some oil, but I'm very concerned with the amount mine is going through. Just got a bad feeling................

Certainly something wrong to be burning that much oil. I remember when I had a scarred wall on my 370 it was burning a good bit of oil and the graph looked like ****, even though it wasn't really showing substantial KR and the A/F was good.

It was a non sponsor. Right now I'm thinking I just got the wrong rockers for my setup. I've seen others on here make low power with the Magnums, then switch to stockers and make the numbers they should. Don't know what to make of the oil consumption. Maybe the motor needs to break in some more. Got maybe 2K miles on it right now. Cruising on the highway it does not seem to use oil. I think it's mainly when I'm driving around town getting in the throttle some.

First thing to do is find out were the oil is coming from. If it is the guides or valve seals, the oil will be comtaminating your incoming intake charge causeing the low numbers. I would then make sure you have those springs shimmed to .050" before coil bind and get a set of the rebuilt Harlan stock rockers. At 2k miles, you shouldn't be using that much oil. The rings should be pretty much seated by now.

Yeah, I thought about the valve seals. The heads were assembled at TEA, so I would be kind of suprised if there was any issues there, but it is worth looking at. I assume the spring needs to be removed to check, right?

You got the 4.10s and the 12 bolt which is pulling you down some. Thats not exactly a dyno queen you got. I'd be pretty happy with those numbers if it were me.

And you hittin 490 ft-lbs of torque which is about right for for that size motor. Most I've seen are around 490-500 ft-lbs. Nothing wrong with that.

I say theres alittle more left in the tuning. Maybe more timing?

And the smoke? My bet is valve guides.

Yeah, I knew it wouldn't be a dyno queen. Don't really care if I set any records lol. I forgot to mention I am running 19 inch wheels on the back, so that don't help. I've been on here doing some searching comparing mine to others, and my powerband actually looks to be about right. I guess the tq is peaking where it should. It's just that the hp drops off about 1000rpm too soon. If the power would keep climbing till 6500 or so, the numbers would probably be about right. I don't know, sounds like the rockers to me. I would think there is still another 20-30rwhp in it.

Very well could be, sounds like a worthwhile effort to find out. Fairly easy fix. Those are the problems I like best-easy fixes

I have an orp with a wide open Borla. I doubt a cut out would be worth much. The car already wakes the dead

Yea, you do have to remove the springs to check the seals. If you were gunna go through the trouble, it would be best to replace them, but if there new, I'd give it some time. It could also be loose guides, but I haven't ever seen that problem with TEA's work. I'd try the rockers first, and also shim those springs up if they aren't already. Keep an eye on your plugs and check to see if the smoking is bad upon start up. If the smoke is coming from blow by, it should be minimal upon crank up, but if it is coming from the top end, it should smoke pretty good upon startup due to seepage while it sat.
