I've done many all motor 500+ RWHP deals. One was a 347 but most are 408s or bigger and all have very good heads and mid sized to larger cams. All these engines were on pump gas and were hydraulic roller also. They usually all have the better FAST intake manifolds and larger headers as well.

With higher compression and race gas 500+ rwhp is not hard whatsoever. Our SAM LS6 headed Darton engine made over 700 RWHP on race gas with a solid roller all motor. 600+ RWHP is easy with a big engine and a sheet metal with a solid roller and some compression. The intake manifold starts limiting you at this range usually.

STOCK LS1 BOTTOM END

Just a set of ported LS6 heads, a cam, and the usual bolt ons.

Is that at the motor or at the rear tires? Guess that should be the ? for most of the guys here. What does it cost to go from a stock motor to that?

That would be at the rear tires through 4.56 gears. On a Dynojet Chasis Dyno.

What does it take? The right parts, designed/installed/tuned by the right shop I guess.

here is a list of all the mods that would atribute to power gains;

Once agian, on a stock 2001 LS1 shortblock with ARP RodBolts.

CARTEK Stage4X LS6 heads [Ported/Polished 2.02" Intake 1.57" Exhaust Milled .030" Comp 921 Springs]
CARTEK 4X Cam [ground by Comp] for specs ask Dave @ CARTEK
Fast LSX 90mm Intake and TB
AC Delco 85mm MAF
Comp-R LS1 Hydrolic Roller Lifters
Stock Rockers
Chromoly pushrods
TSP 85mm Lid & K&N
QTP 1-3/4" headers
TSP True Duals
Ford SVO 30# injectors
Kenny Belle Boost-A-Pump
Mizier Street EWP
ASP Underdrive Pully
Double Timing Chain

Yep, I'm one of those 500+ motors and couldn't be more pleased. A pump gas motor that runs the numbers shifting at 6500 rpm. It idles solid and steady with no drivability issues what so ever.

Thanks Erik!!!!

Granted that the LS1 has been the first V8 I have owned, and am too young to compare it to older V8's, but I think its an awesome motor! Room for improvement, yes, but its the best Ive seen in an N/A V8 motor from the factory.

Thanks for the props, but I just race it, CARTEK built it

I made 513 with my setup....

So swap my setup over to a LS1 add an electric water pump and you should have damn close to 500 rwhp....
True, an LS2 is not much bigger but its not only about size. Every year's new motor becomes more tech. advanced / build quality imporves etc. An LS2 can reach 400rwhp with only bolt-ons, where an LS1 comes in at 40 hp less. Its hard to compare what a H/C setup would do with all the differences.

WS6TransAm01 also should mention that his car holds the stock bottom end world record for the highest RWHP in an LS1 (beating TTP a few months back) to show how rare that kind of power is. (Im assuming nothing has changed with in the past few months)

And I would say to be ready to spend a solid 20K on mods to go from stock to that, after all of the supporting suspension mods and many other upgrades to the drivetrain etc. Thats why juice is your friend.

With power like that, why aren't you "representing" over at e-town on Wednesday/Friday nights? The only LS1 F-Body running 10's, those nights, is from Staten Island. Bring that beast down this coming Wednesday...

I work Wednsday nights cause I go to school in the daytime, even now I have summer classes. On Fri/Sat they say I'm not allowed to race with bullet mufflers. Plus in the summer... sitting in a black car, not able to run A/C, in a fire-jacket and helmet... not my idea of fun.

Plus I hate E-Town cause they never prep the track, and I don't need to go sideways. I'll be back in the fall to check the tuning and shakedown the car for the cool weather.

I know excuses are like ********, and everyone has them, but thats the story and I'm sticking to it.

I did not want to say that in fear of looking like an *******. But yes you are right. Thank you.

^ Dont hold back man, it wouldn't be show-boating, just telling the truth. Its important for the noobs to realize how hard/uncommon 500rwhp is. Plus its a nice record to hold and good to make others aware there have been two shops duking it out.

Interesting, as they never enforced that rule (in regards to bullet resonators) with any of my friends. Not so sure on Saturdays though, as I have to work that day, but on Wednesday and Friday nights, there was never any problem...

We only sit in our cars for about four to five minutes before runs. I know it's pretty tough during the summer, but hey, we do what we must...

They definitely prep the track. That alcohol adhesive that they switched to awhile back caused one of the axle's on my '86 to snap like a freaking twig. As for excuses, well, it's all good. We definitely need more LS1 F-Body's on those two nights, so hopefully you'll reconsider hopping on the bandwagon this coming Fall....

Take it easy...
