Default gt-500 dyno results.

http://www.stangsunleashed.com/forum...showtopic=2230

for those of you to lazy to go to the site, HP: 412.9 Torque: 409.2 on a dynojet stock. Ater exhaust and gears HP: 446.5 Torque: 421.9. both done at about 87% humidity supposably. Also makes a referance to how a "simple pulley swap" might not be so simple.

Thats kinda dissapointing..Im sure modded they will be nasty, but not many ppl will have that kind of money to buy one, then mod the **** out of it. If I remember correctly, they are pretty pricey, and heavy as hell.

They still weigh almost 2 tons with a driver (3600 lbs estimated curb weight). Am I the only one not too impressed by this car?

It was Motor Trend or Car and Driver I believe that said the regular GT is a much more fun car to drive. They said the Shelby is too much of a tank.

They also compared it to a C6 with Z51 package and the C6 beat it in almost every category

3,920 pounds is the listed curb weight, 4,040 for the vert. I was less than impressed with it.

With the near 4000 lb weight, and that power, I don't see alot of people finding the justification to buy the shelby. If a person't smart, they'll buy a regular Gt, get a set of swaybars and some shocks, better set of brake pads, a full header back exhaust and a KB unit, and have a car that wil now out-handle the shelby, out brake it and tear it up down the 1/4 Way to go shelby!

First off, if I were to buy a cobra I would get the 03-04 over this new shelby. But I don't think the power is too bad stock. It is still ~100 more hp than a stock ls1. I bet with the usual exhaust/intake and pulley these things will wake up pretty good. Hell, MM&FF already got one to run a 12.2 @ 117 stock. The is not bad. It is about what an 02-04 Z06 will run.

Thumbs down

Im really not impressed with the GT 500. A couple of my friends have 03-04 cobras and i really like them. I would take one of those of the GT 500 any day.

Sounds like Shelby didnt want to make it as easy to swap pullies as the 03/04 Cobras.

Also who is the guy on the last page with the ZO6 saying that it would take him alot of money to make that kind of power. I hope he was kidding. How much would it take to make more power than that with a ZO6?

sweet, $43k and a gear swap to run low 12s. nice.

i think i could find a monkey that is capable of taking a stock ls1 f-bod into low 12s with $5k. for comparison - i did it.

what a waste of time and money.

5.4 liter and a blower, how freaking weak. dont forget its going to be fast cause it has flow masters.

im right there with you, i am unimpressed and cant wait when my budget 403 is done and ill be kicking its *** with ls6 manifold, tb and stock cast manifolds(i said budget).

at least shelby is now making money off this car vs the cars of the 60's. listening to how ford shafted him back in those days, it amazes me that he has stuck by their side. But IMO this car is a flop. wet fish out of water, its just not going to go anywhere.

maybe the car was heat-soaked after driving to the shop and was not allowed much cool down time and put out some weak #'s for the baseline.

then after cooling down for 2 hrs (time allowed for mods) the car belted out the 446.......

500 X 15% = 425rwhp........ or 500 X 12% = 440rwhp......

just a thought so that we don't "under estimate" the gt500's
