Default Z06 cam in a 4.8 4x4 tru

I just put my cam out of my 02 Z06 in my brothers 04 4.8 5 speed 4x4 truck. The truck put down 230rwhp stock with the big mud grips on it. I have the dyno booked tomorrow, what do you think it will do? I have heard anywhere from 20 all the way to 50 rwhp. So thats why I did the before dyno that way I will know forsure.

It will not impress you with a lot in the way of torque in the mid-range, but you should pick up 20-30rwhp above 5000 rpm. Not exactly the seat of the pants gain you'll want with a heavy truck, but if you're willing to spin it pretty high, it will reward you with higher speeds.

Just by going off seat of the pants feel it feels like it gained some low end, but the truck really wakes up at 3k and pulls all the way to 6k where I set the rev limiter. I really dont think it lost any low end. If I remember right I started the dyno pull stock at like 2k that way I could see more of the rpm band. I will look tomorrow when to make sure I start the dyno at the same rpm.

Wow, that's some nice gains. When these cams are tuned you can see alot more horsepower. If you have LS1 edit you can probably tune it yourself.

Exactly as I predicted...20-30 rwhp gain with not much down low, but nice gains up high. Classic LS6 cam behavior in a truck motor. Enjoy.

Well its tuned. Something is killing hp after 5300rpm and I cant find it. It smoothed out alot but didnt pick up much hp power.

Probably the stock truck intake is killing the HP on the TOP END.

yeah z06s redline at 6500 so if you put an ls6 intake on their and some better springs and pushrods i think youll see 15 more rwhp up top..

It has all my whole valve train out of my 02 Z06 with 25,000 miles in it. It would have been nice to figure it out but since I rent the dyno I tune with it wasn't worth anymore more dyno time to try to squeeze a few more hp out above 5500rpm since I set my brothers rev limiter at 5700rpm since he is hard on trucks. Plus a 4x4 stock truck shouldnt be seeing 6000rpm anyway....well atleast not my little brothers..lol. The truck runs and drives alot better. It also has picked about 3mpg from what we can tell so far.

How many dyno pulls did you complete with it? Did all the pulls show the dip in the same place???
