Do gears affect dyno #'s
I was wondering if 2 cars with the same mods would dyno different with different gears. Lets say two radical motors with the exact same setup and transmission dyno but one car has insufficent 3.23 gears and the other car has 4.10 gears.

Wow I figured the 4.10 gears would show more power than the little gears. The reason I ask is because I know a guy with a 99 ta with a T-rex cam, full exhaust and bolt ons, but has a new axle with stock 3.23 gears. The car has an MTI tune and is making 400 to the wheels. That is on the low side. I reckon it needs a better tune.

4.11's will show less power on the dyno then 3.23's because they are spinning slower at the same RPM.
Does that make sence? I did not think so... LOL

I agree, those gears shouldnt even be neer the car, but I was wondering why its puting down low numbers, I'm guessing its the tune. I'm about to buy the car and add 4.10 gears and a six speed transmission. It allready has full exhaust, lots of bolt ons, and forged ross pistons with -4cc valve reliefs. What else could I do to get more horsepower, and get it to the ground. I'm thinking I've never owned an ls1 so thanks for answering my noobie questions.

The moral of the story is if a T-rex where to walk on his 3 fingers and hands it would be compareable to a Trex Cam with the 3.23s. If the T-rex were to run with his massive legs, it would be compareable to a Trex cam with 4.11's!

But, we have another problem. Do Trex's have shoulders to? any traps?
Man, so complicated

if you live in houston send ESR a pm. he has picked up good numbers over mti's tune's! see my sig, with a much smaller cam, 9" rear w/4.11's, and on a mustang dyno. 400rwhp is not very good for that cam...
