Talking TSP 402 Dyno results!

I finally got the call from Jason at TSP that my car was ready to be picked up. I was at the track when on my 4th pass of the night my motor took a crap, broke rod which apparently slung around cracked the block, threw pieces of the rod and piston everywhere. Decided to just have a 402 put in it, same heads and cam, only difference is the 402 block, old numbers were 481/425, new numbers are 505/463. I can't wait to pick this thing up and try it out. Once again the guys at Texas Speed came through for me and got things done quick. I'd highly recommend them! I only have a faxed copy they sent me of the dyno graph, maybe one the guys from tsp can post the graph if they have it.

hmmm, your old number with the 6.0 impress me alot more than the 402 numbers. I wonder now if the 402 is worth the $4000+++? how do you like it?

If you look at peak #'s then it doesn't look impressive but the Average power is alot better.Even if the 402 made the same peak HP I bet it would kill the old motor in a race due to more average power

Nice numbers. Bet the car feels lots more responsive with the added cubes!

I have no clue, bunk rod from the factory is all I can think of. I haven't compared the two dyno graphs yet but in the 402 the horsepower peaks about 5500 and stays right about 500 all the way to 6700 or so and it barely stats dropping off. As for the torque, if I remember it peaked about 4500 and stays pretty steady in the 400 range through the upper rpms. I left the dyno sheet at home. I really need to pick up my car so I can drive it and check things out.

I haven't driven it with the 402 yet. But previsouly I like the way the car felt when it was making 481rwhp. The only reason I did a direct swap of parts to a 402 is I was thinking later of doing forced induction or nitrous, and that would give me a good foundation. They gave me such a good deal that by the time I got a 6.0 block, crank etc...I would have spent the same money on a 6.0 as a 402. I knew it wouldn't make a lot more horsepower, but its got more avergae power like stated above and a lot more torque which I feel like the car desperately needed.

The cam was installed back in may before the ms4 was released, all I was told at the time was that they had a new prototype cam that would end up replacing the ms3, I'm assuming thats it. Yes, its on a 110+4*, it was pretty choppy in the stock 6.0 block.

I wonder if that cam was a little big and maybe the valves came into contact with the pistons.

Actually, that cam would be perfect in a 402 without the 4 degrees of advance. Great numbers nontheless!

I talked to Jason about using their Texas giant and he didn't seem to think it would make but maybe 5 more hp over what I already had, so I stayed with it, for now

The horsepower is over a wider powerband also, which should make it quite a bit more interesting.
