Default AFR heads/custom spec'd XER cam setup results are in!

So after months upon months of research, reading results after results, I made my decision a few weeks back and pulled the trigger on my setup. In detail, the supporting components:

Pacesetter LTs
TSP ORY
Hooker catback/QTP electric cutout
SLP lid/Holley Powershot filter
H-M ported TB (my own ported TB )
March underdrive crank pulley
Racetronics 42 lb injectors and intank fuel pump
Thunder Racing 7.400 pushrods
LS2 timing chain
AFR 205s milled .024 to 62cc
Cometic .040 gaskets
Comp XER 228/230 .588/.591 114+1

BIG thanks to Tony Mamo for helping me make my final decision on the parts, Rick@Synergy for getting me the heads/gaskets/bolts FAST(Tony didn't have any heads ready in house and found me a sponsor that had what I needed ),to Comp for getting my cam ground and shipped in a matter of only a few days, Tim99ws6 for the invite to the MTFBA dyno day, and Camtom12 for the tune.

This was on a Dyno-Jet with NO tricks. Full belts, air filter in place, and I was running Nitto Drag Radials with 30psi, and this was also through 4.10 gears. The lowest run we fattened it up to try the dry N2O shot, thus the higher start in the rpm range, but the noids didn't fire. The final a/f was left in the high 12s if IIRC.

Car drives like stock, I'm serious has a nice lope to it through the cutout, and pulls like mad when you step on it. I'm 110% happy with the results.

Brian, your setup is just begging for a Mamo ported FAST 90. It's worth an easy 20-30 more rwhp. Just something to save up for over the winter. No driveability downsides. Just pricey!

What he said.

You'd be looking at 470 to the wheels with great driveability.

That is the next thing on the list as far as power is concerned. And just how pricey are they? But for now I am dealing with this issue....https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-transmission/571188-can-t-shift-shit-after-heads-cam-install.html

Next will be a strong rear so I can launch this thing

Congrats on the new power. Like they said, with a Mamo ported 90, it will really wake the car up.

Definitely stout numbers brian and yes I agree with Chad , Pat and louie83 on Mamo's ported 90 but first get the bugs out of your drivetrain then do it

peace

around 550 bucks or so over an unported intake.

I know we had communicated some early on, are these results what you expected and had hoped for?

Are you inclining that they're sub-par?

I installed an LS2 chain as well, so it was installed dot to dot. I forgot to put that in the details in the original post.

No offense Brian, but that doesn't seem like a professional post. If you and Tony both spoke to the individual, then it appears he made his decision. Just seems like bad business practice to come into his thread and make a comment like that. JMO

PS - How can 440+ with a small cam and a LS6 intake be sub-par??

Not at all, just wondering what your expectations were?

Not calling it sub par, I guess it hurts when someone from the town I was born and raised in, and lived in until 2 years ago, won't buy a head from me.

I guess it lets me know how poor a salesman I am, or how good someone else is

I was expecting 430-440 honestly. Do you think something you had to offer would have produced better results? That's an honest, serious question.

To clear anything up with people reading this, I never spoke to Brian on the phone. I had always had TEA on the list of heads I would choose from when the time came. And back when I had my Pewter car, and they tuned it for me while in Bowling Green, I was dead set on getting TEA heads at some point. But before Brian ever contacted me via a PM, I had already made my mind up that AFRs were going on my car, only the final cam selection and time of ordering were left to finalize.

Now, it's been over 2 years ago since I was there with the previous ride. I have a different car, and TEA has been gone from this area for a while. I never looked into the AFRs as much cause of price, but I always knew they were badass. Well the time came and I was able to purchase these without a problem and I knew they were proven performers time and time over. So it wasn't anyone "selling" their product better than the other. In this case the product sold itself.

Also, FWIW, I don't live in Bowling Green and never have. I'm from Bremen KY.

With all that said I have no problems with Brian, TEA, or their products. I just chose AFRs for my setup, where some people go with PRCs, Darts, worked over GM castings, etc, etc. I researched, did my homework, and chose AFRs, and I couldn't be happier
