Default Odd Dyno Graph.

This is an old dyno (blue) from a few months back that I did. I was just looking at it again and noticed how "jaggie" it is compared to another C5 (red) similar to mine. Yeah numbers are low... but what can you do? Engine runs well, clean oil analysis as well. Also, is there anyone that is good at reading dyno graphs know what the heck that spike around 6k is? It sort of looks like a 7.Valve springs? Oh and the car is a C5 with non intercooled maggie, LTs, full exhaust. The other car is same, but without LTs.

It's obvious that the dyno was not being operated properly with lack of smoothing and that they were having some problems, such as the RPM pickup getting an improper signal. This is a text book example of how dynos can give inaccurately high numbers either from improper operation due to the operator's lack of knowledge or intentionally. That dyno sheet should have never left that shop.

this isn't a scan of a sheet, it's a screen shot from winPEP 7. Data is data. Smoothing is just a program function not a dyno function. You can slide it from 0-5 I think you get a better idea of what's going on with no smoothing on. For example here is a screen shoot with smoothing of 3 and not zoomed in. FWIW the other car (red graph) is a file from a fellow in another state. I haven't met him before. Either way, mine is still considerably jaggier than his... so you're saying this is an example of a bad RPM pick up?

As far as I know they were on nice and tight. I wasn't getting any significant KR on HP Tuners...

How the hell does that graph go back in time around 6k rpm? Looks like the flux capacitor kicked in.
